Just bought the 4GB version and I am having problems ripping CDs to it. Is this not allowed on this model?

Kenny: Ok Vic, I'm ready for some girl on girl action.
Vic: No Kenny, that's girl versus girl.
      Kenny: What's the difference?
Vic: Well, in one, one girl wins. In the other....
      Kenny: Everyone wins?!?!

Hopefully MS is doing a better job of refurbing these days...I have heard of some horror stories of systems being DOA when they show up on your doorstep.

It's tempting to just buck up for one of the new models, because it looks like they have addressed the failure rates. I can't justify bucking up for it just yet though when I can get a refurb for free.
I guess I'm out of the loop but I thought the new 360's weren't supposed to Red Ring?

Also, I have a friend who just got one last week. Should it be getting really hot at the top of the system where that vent is?

If you're talking about the top as in having your 360 horizontal then yes, that's a good thing. If you're talking about the top as in having your 360 vertical then no, that's a bad thing.

Yes, where the air is blowing out from that gigantic vent on the side, it should be hot. And the poster before you was talking about his older model 360 red ringing.

Ok I had an black slim and used it up until yesterday when I purchased the Reach Slim. I took the harddrive out of the Black Slim and threw it into the Reach Slim. Load it up and it says, "No memory detected". Im like WTF and put it back into the Black slim and all my memory is there. I try it again with the 360 slim and it still doesnt detect the memory however when I put the Hard drive that came with Reach into the Reach slim it detects the few stuff that came with it.

If Microsoft screwed this up to where Hard drives are linked the console they are with then Im going to be severely pissed.

How is the RROD with these new systems?

I switched to a PS3 over two years ago after my 360's died - I just got sick of it. PS3 made sense at the time... The Show, free online and rechargeable controllers, BluRay, etc.

But The Show has become a bore to me and I don't use the BluRay player - and it's remarkable how much better the 2K11 demo looks on 360. I don't even want to know what NCAA '11 looks like on 360. I still miss the 360 controller.

So I'm debating going full circle and moving back to 360 but only if these new systems don't die so frequently. Any insight?

It is still a bit early to tell.............but they seem to be built very well so far. WTF had a graphics card issue which I have seen a few others have on other message boards, but other than that, not much being reported on issues. You can't go wrong with a slim at all.

Yah, we've had a few brought back to the BBY, but nothing like what was seen with the old 360s.

Yeah, I think mine is the only real one on here that has had any problem, and that was just the graphics card was loose in the slot. Then my HD messed up, but I'm pretty sure that was the byproduct of my ignorance leaving it in a bad spot. My inquisitive mind wanted me to take it out and look at it and the connections, brushed up against it when I layed it down and down it went. So that's probably on me, lol.

I forgot to post in here. I finally broke down and bought one from GS on my lunch break last Thursday. Played too much Halo: Reach over the weekend with it. It's been great so far. Only problem I've had is losing my connection to Xbox Live a little too often. I have a wireless router set up in almost another corner of the house (I have a bi-level) but the signal is strong. Not sure what is going on with that. I have no problem reconnecting quickly. I fear it being a problem playing with friends online though.
