Re: New Xbox 360
How much would I get for an old 360 Pro if I traded it in towards a Slim?
How reliable are the HDDs you buy off of eBay? I see they sell for good prices, but I always worry about them being corrupted or hacked. I would definitely want to add an HDD to the Slim, so I can get all the replays and stuff from games like NBA 2K.
Could you also just use 1-2 Microsoft flashdrives for extra memory? Would those allow you to get the replays/features from games that require more than 4gb of memory that comes with the Slim?Comment

Re: New Xbox 360
Took it back to the same place and he said, they need to keep it another day. Once it's fixed, they start it back up and it keeps overheating.
Great. I hope he can fix it for now.
Maybe he just needs more time.Comment

Barely 3 months later and the 3 red rings showed up again. Wow.

The new 360 is slick; it's actually quieter than my PS3 Slim, which surprised me.Currently Playing:

Re: New Xbox 360
If you can get it working, take it to GameStop and trade it in while they still are offering the extra $50 towards a trade. I got over $100 for my old 360 and 20gb HDD and put that (plus some games I traded in) towards the new 4gb (it was on sale for $149.99 last weekend) and picked up the 250gb HDD and total it cost me less than $100.

I see GS has the unit for $199.00 now, if they have the $50.00 trade in still that would make it $150.00. Plus, will they trade-in refurbished 360's?Comment

You can transfer your file saves by using a flashdrive or picking up the transfer kit (around $20) and going that method.Currently Playing:

Re: New Xbox 360
If you don't need more hard drive space you can keep your hard drive, take it out of the casing and plug it into the xbox slim hard drive slot. Then no data transfer is required.Comment

Re: New Xbox 360
One last question.
How are the warrenty's?
If the game breaks down within the warranty period, will GS fix it for gratis. Same day returns, one day, two days, etc....?
The guy I took my 360 told me he is fixing lazers left and right on the slims. He also said all MS did was take out the red lights, he said the slims still overheat.
Any truth to that?Last edited by roadman; 12-01-2011, 08:51 PM.Comment

Re: New Xbox 360
I know several guys that have the slim and none of us have had any problems. I'd be interested if there were any stats on the failure rate on the slim but I haven't seen any yet.Gamertag and PSN Mrclutch1013

Re: New Xbox 360
I was able to get one of the slims from Best Buy on Black Friday for $199 without having to stand in line. It was one of the ticketed items, and there were 25 available, not everyone with the tickets for the new 360s turned theirs in, so I went in there around 4 AM and a friend of mine who works there was asking if anyone wanted one of the new 360s, so I inquired a little further and accepted it and made the purchase. After that, I sold my Elite the next day, as it was in working condition, so I figured that I'd sell it instead of trying to trade it in.Last edited by NinerFan1983; 12-02-2011, 08:49 AM.Comment

Re: New Xbox 360
Well, my news is turning sour, but still hopeful.
The repair guy told me the same thing today, he plug in the xbox and it still is over heating. He said it's something with the motherboard. Said call him late in the morning, but he told me I should just take out our disc drive and put in someone else's. Didn't know the disc drive was related to the mother board??
So, went to GS tonight, but not our local one. I told him our situation with the trade in and he told me GS won't take our refurbished one in because the warranty seal is broken. Never thought of that.
So, we will need to pay full price to get the new slim. We will take some games in to knock down the price.
If the 360 is fixed, best bet is to put it up on Craigslist. If it's not fixed, it's useless.Comment

Hope you get a new 360 soon. You will really like it and it'll come with a new warranty in the case anything goes wrong.Currently Playing:

Re: New Xbox 360
Duh, looked in my wallet this morning and forgot all about a $50.00 gift certificate from BB. Plus, I think we can take in games there too, plus, whatever the RR zone points we have.Last edited by roadman; 12-03-2011, 09:51 AM.Comment
