    Re: New Xbox 360

So, I've got mine on hold for the next shipment at GS (trading in my 20 gig): If I want to use a USB drive to transfer over everything, are there some games that saves won't transfer over properly? I remember back a couple years ago with NCAA or NBA 2k that you couldn't download rosters and transfer to your 360 without some sort of workaround. Is there anything like that or can I just copy over my profile, saves, DLC, and arcade games to a USB, then to the new 360 with no trouble?

I agree altimus all products have a failure rate. Granted the first 360 models were built like crap this one hopefully solves all the rrod issues. This is a quiter system but there is as much heat coming out of this as my ps3 slim so we will see if this brings any issues.

It was telling me it could not save everything properly or something to that extent on some games, but when it read what I put on the usb stick it was all there and transferred over to my new 360 properly. so no problems there.

Yep, both the 360 slim and PS3 slim put out more heat than the previous models of each version. This is a good thing.

I guess I've gotta take the plunge. My Halo edition allows me to play for about 30 minutes then restarts on its own. Anyone ever seen this? I'm going to turn it in and get some credit for it before it complete breaks down and becomes worthless.

This is my concern I traded my jasper chip 360 (which ran cool) and i got the new black 360 and this thing throws off some heat. I am a little worried how this 360 will hold up. Time will tell

I cant comment on the slim PS3 i have the fatty PS3. but as far as the 360 slim it throws as much heat as the 1st gen 360's and you know how that turned out. This is what scares me. Yes it is good that its throwing out the heat from the system but to me its too much heat. Like i said in my early post my jasper chip 360 run cool (didn't distribute too much heat)

I'll have to seriously consider getting one of these soon. My current 360 that I did the x-clamp fix on last summer has become rather unplayable. RDR and Alan Wake just overheat the GPU too much in certain areas of the game. Hell, it seems everytime I go to Mexico or West Elizabeth in the daytime on RDR, the video ends up freezing. I'll sometimes be able to eject and it takes me back to the dashboard or I just have to reboot the console. Anyway, I'll have to keep an eye on everybody's comments before making a purchase for this.

For the hassles that you have to go through to even have a gaming session, it seems like a no-brainer that now is a good time to get a new system as long as the finances permit. Take the plunge

Time will tell with this new model but it would be surprising that Microsoft would put out another faulty batch of 360s.

Especially since it's a redesigned model which would make headlines everywhere.

Yes total agree it would be surprising, but than again only time will tell. Well i'm that the new 360 slim doesn't have the same problem the 1st gen 360's had

                                Re: New Xbox 360

my slim froze up on me yesterday ! i was playing some RDR, completing a mission down in mexico. i was on the train, firing the gatling gun when all of a sudden my whole game locked up. i have noticed in other missions, when using the gatling gun, the game did lag a bit, but it was ever so slightly.

i am chalking this up to too much action going on at one time. of course i was a bit scared by this, but i restarted and successfully played through the mission.

not sure what made it freeze, but my setup isn't to blame. proper air flow on all sides of the system, system is laying flat, game is installed to the hard drive, house has central air so nothing gets hot inside the room my 360 is in.

other than this hiccup, loving the system!

EDIT* - after making this post i searched google for RDR and freezing issues. looks like some folks have had this issue as well.
