got my new 360 today, wont be hooking it up until I get my new set that I bought to replace my PC monitor I had my original xbox hooked up to.


Wanted an LCD TV to game on, so I bought a 32 in LCD to be used as my PC monitor and my gaming Set.

Looked in the box, very sweet.

Didn't you get that new monitor/LCD a few months ago, what happened to it?

Okay, so we're just going to put this out there: at least one of our new Xbox 360s is anything but "whisper quiet" when it's playing a game. It's almost totally silent when it's doing something that doesn't require spinning a disc, but as soon as that happens, there's a loud hum -- we measured it at 60db, or about the same as our older 360. The sound itself is way different -- a steady low hum instead of the old whine and clunking sounds -- but it's definitely there, no matter where we move the console or how we position it. I was planning to hold off on getting the slim for a while but my DVD drive died on my 360 earlier today (won't read anything, games dvd's, nothing) so I'm thinkin I might try and go pick one up tomorrow (or if I don't want to be cash strapped til Thursday just wait til then when I get paid).

Are they pretty easy to find or are stores out of stock and waiting for new shipments?

I think I'm going in on this. I've had my xbox since 06, got RROD once, but now I'm out of warranty, so if it happens again, I'm SOL.

It's a hit or miss with the PS3 as well. There's always that small chance that you get that PS3 with fans that go from level 1 to max which is the worst console sound this generation when the PS3 fans hit max. Had this issue with one of the PS3s and returned it as it happened.

Did anyone reserve a 360 at gamestop for whenever they get more?, or does anyone work there who can give me more insight into my upcoming question....

I reserved mine a few days ago, and the guy at the store told me I was #5 on the list and they would call me when enough came in for me to get one, but a friend of mine who works at another gamestop, said that they'll sell the console to anyone who has a reserve as they get them in, rather than following the order they took reserves.

I guess my question is for anyone that has reserved one at gamestop, what did they tell you when you did? Or is this is a situation where each store does what they want to and there isn't a policy in place.

I'm pretty sure it depends on the store. But I would think it would be a terrible business practice to not sell them in the order they were reserved.

Installing games to the hard drive completely eliminates any sound whatsoever. I have the original 250 GB 360 (the MW2 edition that came out last November) and it is absolutely silent because I always install my games to the hard drive before playing them. You have 250 GB at your disposal. Use them.
