What exactly are the memory card used for? I'm assuming all game saves and downloaded games?

Best Buy Reward Zone & Gamer Zone members in Canada can pre-order the Vita early release package (Vita, 4 GB card, Little Deviants) this week and they will throw in Uncharted for free. Pretty good deal if you like those games.

I won't be getting this system at launch. I just don't have the money or time to play it but my nephew really wants one. I'm just praying the system does well so if he buys it at launch there is continued support. If EA doesn't offer a football game this year that would suck for him (and many other people). I kind of hope he waits to see how it does at first before he sinks his money into it. No doubt this will be a cool toy.

If the PSP Go had 16gb of internal memory, hell, this one should of had 4 or 8gb. Like I said in the PS4/Xbox3 thread, having to buy extra accessories in 2012 is kind of going backwards............I mean the choice should be there if you want to add another memory card to expand the memory, but it does suck having to initially shell out the extra dough for the memory card off the bat.

Vita wifi, 4gb card (maybe the 8), Uncharted, and Hot Shots. Will get a case as well. Mod Nation is tempting, but with The Show coming out so soon afterwards I'll prob wait. Uncharted and Hot Shots should keep me plenty busy.

                          Re: PSVITA Handheld Information

I'm still wondering what I want to get. I think that, with the content that I will get for the Vita, I might have to get the 16 GB card. It's better to future-proof it at least, unless they decide to throw a 4 GB one in there when it comes out.

Anyway, games on my radar around launch:

                          - Uncharted: Golden Abyss
                          - MLB 12: The Show
                          - ModNation Racers: Road Trip
                          - LittleBigPlanet
                          - Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational

Then I'm definitely looking at the DLC that will be out, and hoping that they give us something with some sort of remote play functionality for a few of the DLC titles, or at least a free downloadable copy for the Vita (for games like ZEN/Marvel Pinball and Fat Princess).

But again, some games are over 1 GB just to install, so I can't imagine an 8 GB card helping me out much, let alone a 4 GB card. Again, they have to charge much less for those. I doubt it costs them a penny more to distribute the 32 GB cards than it does for the 4 GB cards, and it's a necessity if you want to do more than surf the Flash-free Internet on it.

I'm most definitely looking at the WiFi version of this thing, but if they allow a Sprint 3G data plan, consider it considered.

                            Another review:

                            PS Vita Review (Japanese Model)

And really, the cost to consumers to adopt the Vita could be a huge challenge when it finally arrives in English speaking countries in February. With the Wi-Fi unit itself costing $249, plus another minimum purchase of $19.99 for the memory card and $49.99 for most games, users are looking at an investment of over $320 after taxes. In a market where you can purchase a PlayStation 3 or an iPhone 4S for less, the latter of which offers games that are at most $4.99, the PS Vita may find itself in troubled waters. Should consumer reaction follow that of the Nintendo 3DS, however, Sony could be forced to slash prices, boosting the PS Vita's value offering considerably.

Still, many of the aspects of the device aren't even fully operational yet, such as remote play, modes of Near and more. As the device makes its larger global debut and new games and updates emerge, expanded functionality and value is sure to follow. We plan on conducting a comprehensive review of the version launching next month, so stay tuned.

Again, this is just the beginning for the PS Vita. Despite its faults and the challenges it may face in the larger consumer market, it remains an impressive handheld. It offers gameplay experiences never before seen on a portable device and with time, could emerge as a powerhouse mobile platform.

What the heck? You mean to tell me that games will still have installs on the memory card or are you just talking download sizes for digital purchases? I can understand the PS3 having large installs due to the slower nature of reading a Blu Ray disc but that doesn't make sense to me if you own the cartridge. Please clarify.

Here is a list of sizes of some games on the Vita:

^ Good question. I got my answer off a YouTube response by the person who was uploading videos about his Japanese Vita. Perhaps he was referring to the downloaded versions.

If this is the case, I still plan on downloading many of my games. It would be easier to travel with, and for the most part they will be cheaper (even if they are marked at the same price, for a California guy like me at least the digital downloads will be tax-free).

                                Sorry for the confusion.
