But it's really good. There's even a ultra hard core 12 week program for people who are super fit already.

I really like the floor stuff / stretches. There's even a 12 week Yoga course.

Try it first if you can. A friend at work leant me it for a night...I didn't even consider it before then to be honest.

Buying this tomorrow. Along with the 250. I have an old arcade and it's gonna die soon anyway so might as well upgrade now. I am pumped. I played it in Best Buy last week and it was probably the most fun I've ever had playing a video game.

He has a bad back so that automatically knocks out Insanity. P90x isn't a starter fitness program either. If the Kinect fitness programs get people off of the couch and working out again, I am not really seeing the problem. So a few of us are spending some money getting this and having fun while working out. Is that really a problem???

I noticed you play MLB 10 the Show by your signature. Why spend $60 when you can go out and swing a bat for free.

The GiantBomb video was actually sad. He couldn't even do the basics and you can tell that he does not workout AT ALL.

FYI Amazon has buy one get one half off kinect games. I picked up the dance game and Your shape. So we got the top 4 games for christmas, that should do it.

lol I'll remember that next time. Getting together professional athletes for a team sport in a professional setting is what I'll do next time instead of playing a baseball video game, since that example is certainly the same thing.

Please let CV answer the question I asked.

It's good that people are "getting back into fitness" but they should also know there are more focused options that can cost less instead of turning to a video game for their workouts.

On top of that, the options I mentioned involved an eating regimen, something that is just as important as getting up and waving your arms at a camera.

Again, I'd like to hear CV's thoughts since he apparently has experience with both. Thanks.

I agree with Pared on this.

Also, IMO, anyone who is serious about getting back into a healthy state of mind and body... should all have a newsletter sign up and visit http://www.livestrong.com/.

Their newsletters are fantastic, and they always have helpful hints on dieting etc. Simple small steps in them that go a LONG ways.

Best of all, it is FREE! You can get all the plethora of information that most places want to charge, and just use general willpower to force yourself into a proper diet (since IMO, Diet is 80% of your weight loss, maintain, gain). Physical fitness only accounts for 20% if a proper diet is administered.

And by "diet" I do not mean starvation, etc ... but proper nutritional intake and eating regiments.

I don't know why offering a more productive solution is being taken negatively.

If you really want to work out there are other options and that's all I'm saying. To me, this is simply an excuse to turn on a video game. There's more to working out than that.

I'm not calling anyone a fat-*** nor Ahnuld. It's simply about what is better for your body and I'm hopefully making you sincerely think about this here.

My wife started talking about these workout games as well... and I pointed her towards insanity. She's a beginner as well.

All it takes is focus and education... even getting a game like this, it can just end up sitting there and gathering dust. The warmup and cool down periods are important and any workout can be shortened by choosing your workouts.

I would just like to know what these offer that a workout program doesn't. Who knows, maybe I'll buy one if it's worthwhile... but again, that's why I'm asking here. And it's not just this. The same argument applies to Wii-Fitness.

Maybe I am missing a previous post or something as I don't see anything negative. Just saying that the Kinect fitness games also offer another viable means to workout. I have both P90x and Insanity along with the a few kinect fitness programs. I have a gym room within my home along with a treadmill. I like variety and I get a good workout using the Fitness Evolved and EA Active 2 products.

Both P90x and Insanity are the best on the market and I highly recommend them. When I read your posts though it comes across as a knock for those who also enjoy adding the kinect fitness programs to their routines. Some like CV have stated they have a bad back. This is where the fitness games could help ease them in so eventually they can add or move to other fitness products on the market.

Not everyone is equal in fitness or abilities.........hence my point about just going out to swing a bat does not equal being able to play in the major leagues. Look at that video of the guy giving a review of the Biggest Loser. Do you think he could handle P90x? Insanity would kill him or make him so frustrated that he would give up and go back to sitting his fat rear end on a coach with a bowl of ice cream.

I know it sounds silly but some need to have an interactive video game where they are getting a workout while still having fun. Some of the games are actually fun and by the time it is over, you have actually burned a good amount of calories. Nothing is worse than seeing a 21 year old, 120 lbs athlete in a video doing things that most people cannot do later in life. So if Kinect fitness games is a fun interactive distraction to get them up and going then I say GO FOR IT!

I can see the use in those scenarios but at the same time there are those that CAN have the same support using those workout routines. While I think stating someone would "give up and go back to sitting his fat rear end on a coach with a bowl of ice cream" is a bit much, I can see your point behind the comment.

But it's important to discuss that these programs alone are a small part of the solution. We have a good informational thread in the OSN going and guys should check it out.

Well it was not meant to come off like that. I should have further commented on that analogy. The fat guy giving up I understand is not politically correct however I have a few friends that have started countless workouts, get frustrated, give up and just go back to eating whatever. It is like that person who is unable to give up smoking. They know it is bad for their health, may have tried multiple times to quit, got frustrated and gave up. There are programs out on the market to ease people in so they have a fighting chance but I agree the workouts are only a small part of the equation.

All of this fitness talk is stressing me out. I think I am going to go eat a pizza!

For me man it's definitely having my shape / virtual me there on the screen.

Knowing I am not bending low enough or raising my arms high enough is important.

Also, I need the extra motivation...a DVD etc doesn't know when I've stopped and said "screw this, i am too tired!"...these things actually count your movement, so you need to keep going. Maybe it's just me who needs that though, I slacken off easily
