    Re: Nintendo 3DS

IGN: Shin Megami Tensei IV Preview

Set in the year 1492 in a kingdom whose structure resembles Renaissance-era Europe, SMT4 begins with your silent protagonist undertaking an initiation test called the Gauntlet Rite. The rite's name is decidedly literal: Applicants put on a metal gauntlet, which then accepts or rejects the prospective user. Those it rejects go about their lives as usual, while the few who pass the test become members of an elite warrior society who take on a protective role for the kingdom, upholding a mythic legacy of demon-fighters.
Fittingly, SMT4 makes use of a battle system that builds on that of its direct predecessor, Nocturne. While in-dungeon navigation takes the form of a free-roaming third-person system with real-time interaction, fights themselves play out as a Dragon Quest-style slugfest: turn-based, first-person combat.

Once again, Nocturne's popular Press Turn mechanic (also seen in Strange Journey and Devil Survivor) returns to encourage smart play. Each character begins a round of combat with a single action available (denoted by an icon in the corner), but depending on the impact of your choices you may earn extra actions or find yourself penalized. Hit a foe's elemental weakness and you'll earn bonus attacks; hit it with a skill it reflects or absorbs and you'll end up giving it an extra turn instead. Add that to the effects of the basic attack and you can see how Press Turn causes your choices to carry tremendous weight: an effective attack does multiple times its damage, while a poor attack whiffs hard and puts you at a huge disadvantage.
SMT4 doesn't simply throw you into the deep end and expect you to swim, though. While even early combat encounters don't seem to mind destroying your self-esteem, SMT4 leads you through its mechanics step-by-step by doling out compact tutorial-like missions via Burroughs. Even the series' trademark demon negotiation abilities are served up in small amounts, one at a time. Leveling up not only nets you skill points to invest in your hero's stats, but "app points" that allow you to unlock new features for Burroughs as well. These include what amount to translation programs for the demons, with different apps enabling varied forms of demon communication. You begin by purchasing the ability to recruit demons, but further forms of interaction become available as you open up more apps.
On many levels, SMT4 brings MegaTen business as usual to the 3DS. Yet between its intriguingly mysterious storyline, its striking visuals, and a portable-friendly, mission-driven structure, it also promises to push the series forward without compromising its essential excellence. Unusually for an Atlus-developed title, SMT4 will be arriving in the U.S. quite quickly after its Japanese release. The Western version, complete with localized text and fully-voiced story sequences, is barely more than two months away: July 16. The 3DS has come into its own as an RPG powerhouse this year, and SMT4 should continue that streak.

I took Fire Emblem an sold it as I just couldn't get into it. I mean I loved Advance Wars an FFT but I don't know why I didn't like FE.

Bought an because of the great reviews an such an it was a good game don't get me wrong an if your weren't even a fan you would still say its great. I just hated how you couldn't train you characters really outside of a skirmish here an there an how you just jumped from one battle to the next.

        Maybe I'm just weird lol

It's too late now but the fastest way to level up without DLC is buy a bunch of reeking boxes and have 1 team solo the level. Cut off all the animations and you can level up pretty quickly.

But if you did get DLC, there's a map that grants a 2x experience skill that can be given to anyone and makes leveling up EASY.

Take a look at some of the Capcom characters and cameos represented in Project X Zone, Namco Bandai's epic tactical RPG collaboration with Sega and Capcom!

Tried out the CPP on RE and it works great!

Now as far as FE. I've never played any in the series so I'm not sure..
Is it all strategy RPG and no exploration? Just curious before I crack it open.

Phoenix Wright: Dual Destinies Headed West This Fall

Capcom has confirmed that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Dual Destinies is headed to North America and Europe this fall. Previously known as Ace Attorney 5, Dual Destinies will be available on 3DS as a digital download via the eShop.
Dual Destinies offers 3D gameplay for the first time in the franchise, and players “will need to investigate each crime scene with dynamic 3D visuals, making it possible to change views and zoom-in on areas to uncover any hidden evidence or clues. The drama continues in the court room as players present their evidence, challenge witnesses and begin to unravel the truth behind each of the cases.”

In addition to Phoenix Wright, the cast of Dual Destinies includes “the young Attorney Apollo Justice and new Associate Attorney Athena Cykes. Athena’s unique ability to psychoanalyse witnesses introduces a brand new element to proceedings. Using Athena’s ‘Mood Matrix’ players can detect the emotional state of a witness and tell whether they’re surprised, angry, happy or sad. Players can compare these feelings with the statement given by the witness, point out any contradictions between the two and challenge the witness testimony.”
Pokémon X and Y adds mounts, is set in an alternate version of France

This Parisian area is named Miare City (although that moniker will probably change for the game's English translation).

One image of the city shows the player character using their Pokémon as a mount - a new feature for the series.

Four new species were also revealed: Elikiteru, a droopy-eared electric lizard, Yayakoma, a small bird like a robin, Yancham, a mischevious panda, and Gogoat, the goat-esque creature that the player character is shown riding.

Finally, players will be able to pick one of three designs for male and female versions of the playable character - each with different colour hair.

Is this Pokemon just like all the others?

I tried to play the last one on DS and just couldn't get that into it...the "collecting" didn't grab me like others, and seemed like mostly a grind....
