So a trick my son and I discovered last weekend. Play Animal Crossing? Want Street Pass homes in your showcase? Take that 3DS in your pocket to a busy mall (in standby of course) and walk around for an hour or two. We had some errands, it was in my pocket, and BOOM! Street Pass stuff for all sorts of games, and five new houses.
Granted, it was the Mall of America, but I imagine it's worth it regardless.I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be. - Douglas Adams

Whats your point? Who cares what their "target audience" is?
Anyway I picked up a 3DS today; can anyone give me a couple suggestions for the essentials for this system?
I only picked up the Metal Gear Solid game and an old DS pokemon game to get me by until I really get into the handheld.
I hear Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are must haves.Comment

- Fire Emblem: Awakening - Killer app #1. You may fall in love with it even if you're not that interested in SRPGs. Having said that, I would still recommend trying out the demo on the eShop first.
- Super Mario 3D Land - Killer app #2. This is the best Mario game I've played since Mario 64. The level design is brilliant and it just keeps getting better and better. It's also really the only game I feel that uses the 3D well and adds something tangible to the experience.
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf - This is an extremely well made game, but honestly, I got bored of it and haven't touched it in weeks. A lot of people love it though.
- Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - I really enjoyed this. It's a lighthearted and charming action-adventure/puzzle game. Much better than the first one on GameCube. It took about 15 hours to finish so it's pretty meaty too.
- Shin Megami Tensei IV - This game is right there in the running with Fire Emblem and The Last of Us for my favorite game this year. I admit it's an acquired taste though. It's a dungeon crawling JRPG with a fun and challenging turn-based combat system, dark story and atmosphere, tons of content, and you negotiate with the demons you're fighting to join and fight along side of you. The opening area I could see turning some off because it is limited and really isn't a great representation of most of the game at all, which is shame, but it makes sense for story purposes.
- Pushmo - Easy recommend if you like puzzles games and it's only $8.99.
I haven't played these, but I see them recommended often so maybe read up on them or watch some videos.
- Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask (played the other Layton games on DS which are all good puzzle adventures)
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D (obviously played this, just not the remake on 3DS)
- Resident Evil Revelations
- Kid Icarus: Uprising
- Paper Mario: Sticker Star
- Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance
- Mario and Luigi: Dream Team
- Mario Kart 7
- Monster Hunter 3
- Mighty Switch Force
- Steamworld Dig
- Cave Story
- Etrian Odyssey IV
- Virtue's Last Reward (probably would want to get and play the DS game 999 first)

If you REALLY want streetpasses, spend 2 days a Disney World like I got to do earlier this summer. I couldn't even keep up with all the passes I got.Comment

That means they didn't create it for someone like you or me to want or like. The reason for the design is because children break things fairly easy. With a regular 3ds it has hinges which make it easier for a child to break. With this design there are no hinges for them to break.Whats your point? Who cares what their "target audience" is?

I dont think thats it. The price point, new console releases, pokemon release, and christmas time (and lack of real demand for the 3D in 3DS) is why this version is coming out. This isnt about hinges lol. The thing breaking isnt a concern for nintendo, hell they just put both screens on the 2DS at risk without the hinges.That means they didn't create it for someone like you or me to want or like. But I can agree that the outrage, if it really is outrage, over this is misplaced. Its not that big a deal, just keep your 3DS guys.

There's only one screen on 2ds with plastic separating. This is to provide a cheap, less breakable, non 3d version for parents to buy kids...I dont think thats it. How do you know if you street pass someone? Just that a new house shows up? Is there somewhere to check and see if I've ever been street passed?
