Kinda bummed you can't do multiplayer with the gamepad and wiimote(s) in Super Mario U. I'll have to grab Mario 3D World so me, the wife and my 10 year old can all player.

Re: Wii U Discussion
In the next week or so I'm going to pick up a Wii U and MK8. Not sure what else game wise but LoZ:WW is ranking up there.
Curious though, what would be the best route controller wise for 4 player MK8? I have a projector and am intending to set up the Wii U with out for some game nights using the side of my house as the screen and just don't know what controller(s) to invest in.Comment

Games like Wii Party U, Nintendoland, Wii Sports Club, New Super Mario Bros. U, Sonic & Mario Winter Olympics, Mario Party 10, et al. are designed for the Remotes.
Remotes will also help you the most if you plan to take advantage of the Wii's backwards compatible library.
But if you only want to play games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros., and Mario 3D World, you can get by with Pro Controllers.Comment

Re: Wii U Discussion
Wii Sports Baseball and Boxing are finally coming to the eShop tonight.
Free 48-hour demo passes for all five Wii Sports games go live at 9 PM EST tonight.
I will likely be on then, if anyone wants to try online multiplayer.

Re: Wii U Discussion
Severs are up and running. Let the games begin!
Edit: So far baseball is a lot of fun online. I didn't notice any lag at all. Sony San Diego needs to ask and see if they can borrow Nintendo's netcode. The fielding's a little weird, but pitching and hitting are fun.
Online bowling is kind of a drag since it's four players and you have to sit there watching everyone go one at a time. It should have been simultaneous play, not alternating.
Tennis is pretty much the exact same game from the original Wii sports. It's a shame that you can't play singles, and that you can't partner up with random Internet players for doubles action.
Boxing has a stamina meter, but it only goes down when you get hit, not when you punch, so it's essentially a punch spam fest online.
Golf is the hardest to learn, but pretty fun once you get the hang of it.Last edited by jyoung; 06-27-2014, 06:08 PM.Comment
