Mario 3d is insanely fun. I'm having a blast with it. That is all.

Kevin, have you tried any of the Dynasty or Samurai Warriors series of games? Hyrule Warriors uses that model of hack n slash except it's all built around the LOZ brand which is looking fantastic.

Never played any of them so I haven't been too sure what this game is all about. This Direct cleared that up, definitely getting. Nintendo does good with these videos.

They are fun hack n' slash style games and I think with Hyrule Warriors it is even cooler because its the Legend of Zelda characters. This is a very cool looking game and whenever I get a Wii U down the road will be buying this for sure.

For you Wii U owners, how does the Gamepad hold up to lengthy playing sessions in terms of comfort? I've only played a few rounds of Mario Kart 8 on the GameStop demo station, so it's hard to tell how it'd be playing for a 2-3 hour session.

I've played some pretty long sessions of Mario 3d etc.. and I haven't had any discomfort. If I did I'd just switch to the pro controller or WiMote.

Gamepad is fine. I would highly recommend a pro controller though.

It's still my favorite Wii U game. Unlike really any other action brawler with really deep and unique mechanics. The pace of action is relentless and boss fights are insane. The craziness continues to ratchet up, culminating with one of the most insane finales I've ever experienced in a game.

Lack of accessibility is the hurdle though. The learning curve is fairly steep because of the unique drawing mechanics and very little is explained. It will take a good 2 hours or more to just start getting comfortable and feeling like you know what you're actually doing. Even though I don't think it's a good demo, there is one on the eShop.

Some tips for anybody interested in playing The Wonderful 101.

                        • First things you should buy from the Wonder-Mart are Unite Guts and Unite Spring. These are essentially your Block and Dodge. So yeah, pretty important. Then go for the Wonder-Liner upgrades and other Unite upgrades.

                        • Save the vegetables (space pepper, carrot, and eggplant) you collect in levels until you get 30 of each. Then mix them to get a Wonderful Credit Card which allows you to purchase any one item from the Wonder-Mart. There's no point in wasting them on healing items or other items because you come across enough in the levels themselves. I used my Credit Cards on Custom Blocks which are some of the most expensive items.

                        • There's 3 default difficulties: Very Easy (Easy), Easy (Normal), and Normal (Hard). I played on Easy and it was tougher than Bayonetta on Normal. No matter what you choose, you can change the difficulty between missions. Also, on the default difficulties the only real penalty for dying is your ranking at the end might not be great. That's really it, because when you hit continue, you immediately come right back where you died and enemies (and even bosses) don't regain their health.

                          Re: Wii U Discussion

Just bought one of the $200 refurbished WiiU's from Nintendo. The more I thought about it, the WiiU complements PC gaming perfectly since there is no overlap in titles. I can wait on a PS4 until next year when there's actual new titles, not remastered games from last gen or games I can play on my PC. I'll miss out on Destiny, but I'd rather play Bayonetta and Smash Bros. this year.

I ordered Mario Kart 8 and The Wonderful 101 along with it as my first games. W101 was pretty cheap on Amazon and as someone who's enjoyed every Platinum game, it felt like a must pick up. I'll be getting Bayonetta 2 and Smash Bros. when they release later this year. Any other recommendations? I'll probably pick up Super Mario 3D World and get Earthbound on VC since I've never played it. Considering Pikmin 3 since I've never player that series, and maybe DK: Tropical Freeze?

I do need to find a Pro Controller though. Amazon is sold out, so I might have to look around local Gamestops, Best Buys, and Walmarts for one.

I would recommend Pikmin 3. I never played the series prior either and I really enjoyed it. Best way to play would be with a Wii-mote and Nunchuk and use the Gamepad as a map.

Haven't played Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze and ZombiU yet, but they come highly recommended. The latter can be found for cheap.

Super Metroid, EarthBound, Super Mario World, and Mega Man X are a good starting point for Virtual Console.

I would maybe wait for another sale on the Pro Controller and instead get a Wii-mote and Nunchuk, especially if you never owned a Wii before.

Definitely get Pikmin 3 before the new Donkey Kong.

Tropical Freeze is the most boring, by-the-numbers game Retro Studios has ever made. It definitely wasn't up to their usual level of quality.

Nintendo could have better utilized that development team by trying to take Donkey Kong into 3D, like they did for Samus and co. back in the original Metroid Prime.
