That almost sounds like it's a RAM memory problem or a video card problem. If you were describing a problem with a pc anyway. Small, basic games load because it's not straining the memory but anything larger overloads it and hangs.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

Bit early to throw the party yet, but the first thing I did when the restore completed was fire up the game in the system, Tales of Graces (which was hanging earlier like I described) and it started right up.

Next step: getting back on PSN and seeing if the cloud saved games work - my Graces save files were ones I especially did not want to lose. As well as Rainbow Moon, which I'm going to have to re-download along with all the other stuff that was nearly filling the 180 GB hard drive.

I probably shouldn't complain too much since it's working - dodged a major bullet here. Wish I knew what the hell caused it though. It was probably time I did some housecleaning on the console anyway.

Hmmm.. perhaps I should try that as well. Or just get the Super Slim which I have been granted access to do by the wife, lol. Decisions, decisions. That's exactly what mine has been doing too.

If you do, make sure to deactivate game and video on your system BEFORE reformatting, otherwise you'll be calling up Sony to get access to your PSN downloads again. It does warn you about that (and tells you where to go to do it) before it lets you reformat, though.

A full reformat is also a lengthy process - mine took around 9 hours. There is a shorter option, but I had to go to work anyway so I just let it run.

Yeah, that's a little steep for a PS2 game. I can buy the GTA Collection from Wal-Mart for $19.99, so I may go that route, even though it would be nice to just play the games off of the PS3.

Speaking of GTA, how is Chinatown Wars, and is that worth the price on PSN?

Anybody download one of the new NFL themes? Tempted to get the Niners one, but there's no preview option like there normally is for new themes.

Chinatown Wars is AWESOME. One of my favorite GTA games. So under appreciated.

Rochard... Yet another game that would be PERFECT for the Vita.

Yeah that's strange, the Niners is the only one without a preview too.
