Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

Blzer, are you able to play the cross-controller levels online? If I try to bring them up while signed into LBP, I just get an endless loading icon. If I sign out of PSN, they work fine. This could be related to the reason I reformatted in the first place and may only be my system, that's why I'm asking.

Just did the first level and it's pretty interesting. I didn't really notice input delay at all, thankfully (that said, my Vita is USB-connected to the PS3 at the moment - can't say how it would do wirelessly yet). As Blzer said, there is a 460~ MB download to the Vita to use this feature, and all of us Vita owners know that's no small chunk of space. I hope every game that uses cross-controller doesn't have to have its own download and install as this would imply.

I was hoping it would be for the whole game, but it might be something that they can incorporate in future games moving forward. The Vita is capable enough to pull off this kind of remote play.

They probably will bc since they the only way for this to work is to be specifically programmed for that game like it has to be for each Wii U title.

Yes, I just played through the first level and the bonus level online. This is... wow, amazing.

You connect with a player who doesn't have a Vita (or something like that I guess), and there are portions where you play on your Vita screen and you get to watch what they're doing on the TV. If you ever get to play the bonus level online, you'll be amazed at how awesome this multitasking thing is.

Zero input delay whatsoever. It's like playing with a controller.

So I found it nice and interesting. The only hassle I have is when I have to touch the screen to reveal there are invisible things that can kill you, and I have to run and jump at the same time as well. It's a small concern, but otherwise everything else is really, really cool. I just wish we had more than six levels.

We probably will have more levels soon enough...the tools are there for people to create cross-compatible levels. You can get into create mode from the Vita, and there's several tutorials explaining the new stuff.

Got it working, problem was on my end with my system, as I thought. Haven't been able to connect to anyone yet though - most are refusing to let me join.

Yeah, I was just about to say that I realized people can create levels. That will be freakin' awesome.

Got it working, problem was on my end with my system, as I thought. Haven't been able to connect to anyone yet though - most are refusing to let me join.
I noticed that my Vita version of LBP was automatically rejecting requests by default (as a checkbox in the Settings menu), so I unchecked that. I bet that's what most rejections are. Otherwise, it could just be an issue with the new patch or whatever. After all, it looks as though you're only supposed to have one Vita controller at a time. Maybe you have to wait for someone to join you. That's what I did. Make sure you're not checking the box that automatically rejects requests.

Anyway, I tried all night to get Windows Movie Maker to import my files, but to no avail. I'm downloading an unactivated version of AVS Video Editor and I'll upload it to YouTube. It will apparently have a little logo smackdab in the center, so just go ahead and ignore that when I get it up. Obviously for those who have already played the first level or whatever, this video won't really be of any interest to you. Still wish I had that commentary though haha.

Anyway, that first bonus level was all kinds of awesome. Reminded me so much of Inception!

EDIT: Here's the first level (my first playthrough... no commentary guys, sorry).

Sorry bcruise, I saw your request to join but I was on my phone and by the time I located the controller the request was gone. I was getting ready to shut it down anyway.

Also like Blzer said, check to make sure you have session join allowed. That is most likely why you kept getting rejected (that is, that others don't have it on.) Unless an update changed it, I thought it was ON by default. *shrug*

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

Reading these impressions by a guy on another forum and watching Blzer's video this is impressive what they have done here. Now we know it is capable of the Vita to do what the Wii U Gamepad can at a higher resolution.

Is Donkey Show around ..? please mister.. You have to go to your colleagues at Sumo Digitial and pat yourself on the shoulder. Damn this is some amazing work. just WAUW.!!!
It might be a bit short, it might be that the install of the cross controller pack is strange and confusing.. BUT the end product here is just fantastic.. again WAUW..!!!

I was smiling all the way through this little piece of heaven. The story is geat, the levels are fun... but most of all the cross control stuff is beyond Amazing. I was amazed by the response of the controls, I was expecting some kind of lag because of remote play (it uses remote play, but not in the usual way, it just connects through it), but no lag no problems whatsover with the controls, they just worked perfectly..

Using the Vita to tilt stuff in the levels, light up lasers, move platforms, play music, transport out in to space etc.. just wauw.. that is so amazing.. I actually had to wake up my wife to show this to her (she got pissed and didn´t care), but I just had to show it to someone.. even the little "load" screen is fantastic.

This cross controller pack is really something else.. even though it took me forever to get the pack ready to play. I hadn´t played LBP 2 since forever. So this is what I did.

                      - Start LBP2 on PS3.
                      - Download & Install 5 updates. (took like 1 hour)
                      - Download the cross controller pack (just arround 100kb on the PS3 and the same on the Vita)
                      - Start LBP 2.

But becuase it was the digital version from plus and I had deleted all the saves from my old retail copy, I couldn´t find the cross control option. I had to complete the first world in LBP2 to unlock the cross controller option (along with the level creation part in LBP2). That took me about an ½ hour. so then I pressed the cross controller option.

                      - It started up Remote Play on the PS3.
                      - I tried to find the thing i had downloaded on My Vita, but no luck.
                      - Started up remote play on my Vita.
                      - Chose the cross controller option there.
                      - Now it connected and prompted to download the app.
                      - 462Mb had to be downloaded on the Vita. Took like 15 min.

Now I was ready.. it took some time, so I was kind of annoyed and thought I had wasted alot of time, and was ready to play for 10 min. and give this product thumbs down..
But allready from the first second I used My Vita to control sackboy on my Flatscreen tv .. I was in Love.. damn this is impressive..

It´s just a damn shame that this is such a niche product. Lots of stuff going against it. You have to own a PS3, PsVita and LBP2 on the PS3 (luckily it is free for Plus members). The install thing is not something an everyday person just figures out by himself.. It´s a little to hard to install..
But that is just such a shame because this product is a real showpiece of the possibilities for future cross control stuff. If game companies use this option from the beginning when they start to program a new game, the install procedure and everything around it could be much easier. Sumo Digital has managed the impossble with an allready existing game, so the install procedure migt be annoying but still impressive that they managed to do this with an old game.

I really hope the community will pick upthis product and make some levels for the cross controller pack. I will at least try to make something, the possibilities seem endless right now..

I could go on and on about this product.. but I will stop.. just going to say this:

Sumo Digital, you have my utmost respect. This is the best piece of software and programming I have seen this year (ehh actually ever seen). Keep up the good work, and I really wish this sells well, it certainly deserves to.!

I still have HSG in its wrapping and whatnot. Maybe I should return it to Best Buy and buy this one on the cheap.

I just hope I have enough memory left for downloaded games. I only have about 6GB left.

Can we keep saves for our games and delete the installs? So like say I knew there were five or so games I wasn't going to play right now, could I delete the games but then re-download and re-install them and still have my old saves?
