Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

So I got the move bundle, downloaded some demos, hooked everything up and.....meh. I haven't played much but Medieval Moves was very bland. The Sports Champions demo was crap, frolf and pingpong....zzzzzzzzzzzz. The technology works very well, there's just almost nothing that utilizes it.

I should have just trusted my instincts and stayed away, even despite the deal, but then again maybe I just need to keep looking (and play the full version of Sports Champions).

Burns, saw you playing The Fight demo when I jumped on earlier. The demo doesn't do it justice since its basically just a punching dummy but the full game is still pretty blah too. I do break a sweat though while playing it so sometimes I play it instead of doing a cardio workout.

The only reason I have the move is because there was a sale on the 320gb slim move bundle when my fat ps3 died last year but im pretty meh on it too.

Tiger Woods is fun, but hard. Gave up on the wonky controls after about a week. Sports Champions is fun. It's 1-to-1 movement translation is really accurate, but the individual games are just not robust enough in my opinion. I only play it with friends or family because it's pretty natural for a newbie to pick up and compete on.

Did you try The Show homerun derby? It's fun, makes you bat the same way as the hitter you choose so trying to bat lefty when you're a natural righty adds to the fun. I'm looking forward to the added features for 12.

Disc Golf and Table Tennis are the best things about Sports Champions. Bocce is okay, but everything else isn't all that great, especially without two Move controllers. You can get Sports Champions for $8 used, but if you didn't like the best it has to offer in the demo, then it's not worth it.

I enjoyed No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise, but you have to put up with some jank and tedium with the mini-game jobs to experience the good stuff. Tumble on PSN may be worth checking out, otherwise there's not a whole lot. Resistance 3, Killzone 3, inFamous 2, and LBP2 work well after some tweaking, but those are still games you would rather play with a regular controller.

Funny enough I wasn't even able to play the fight demo, didn't realize you needed 2 controllers. Anyway, there are still demos I haven't tried yet, and both Killzone 3 and Resistance 3 are sitting unopened to try with the thing, so it's a little early to proclaim the thing a mistake, I just would have thought the demos for the two flagship move titles would have been better.

Tiger Woods, while I like golf and hope it's accurate enough to use, I just can't stand the setup of the Tiger Woods games, but maybe move will get me over that hump. I wish they would release the move patch for Hot Shots here, maybe there's a move demo for it on the Japanese store.

I haven't done any stuff with the Show, if I do I will likely wait for the new version first.

I hope Twisted Metal will be available on PSN like Jak & Daxter was... I have a feeling my Gamestop will not have copies left by the time I get there /=
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

There are plenty of other retail stores out there.

I preordered my copy at Best Buy on January 5th. I hope that was early enough for a code to download TMB.

                quick question.
it takes me 5 hours to download a demo from my home internet.
is there a way to download a demo from another (faster) internet and transfer it to my playstation via memory stick??

I know some people who found backhanded ways of doing this, but I don't think they're encouraged. It's something that you download for your computer first or something, and it might be a torrent so I would advise against it. I wouldn't even know where to look to find that answer for you, but I know somebody on OS posted how to do it a couple of times.

By the way, has anybody been watching The Tester? I tried to give the first episode a try, but I'm just not into reality TV.

Re: Playstation Network and Discussion - The New Beginning

During the rewards beta one of the things they gave points for was downloading the season 1 finale, and since I had to download it I watched it. I didn't think it was very good, even for a reality TV show.

As for the downloads, I would check your home network setup, I've never had a demo take that long. Hell, the other night I downloaded 16 demos (Darkness II, Scarygirl, UFC 3, Grand Slam 2, FF XIII-2, Scene It, Medieval Moves, Everybody Dance, Carnival Island, Winter Stars, Ape Escape, The Fight, Puddle, Sports Champions, Eyepet, EyeCreate), I started them about 3:30 before I went to bed and they were all done when I got up at about 9:30.

If I ever try to download something over wireless on my fat PS3 it takes forever. Wired is no problem. For my slim PS3 the wireless doesn't seem as bad, but I have both wired because that way is faster. For example, I downloaded the first Jak and Daxter game (985 MB) the other day over my wireless and after 3 hours it was only at 80%, plugged in the Ethernet cable and it finished within 5 minutes.

For those of you who don't have GTA IV yet on PSN you're in luck! It'll be available tomorrow for download and Worms: Ultimate Mayhem..

Also glad to know you can buy the Vita games on PSN (though kinda weird how they release this week with the Vita launching NEXT week.

It's not a torrent. It's a proxy which sends all download info to your pc and you transfer it back to your PS3 once it's finished. It definitely isn't something that will get you in trouble/banned. In fact, if they were against it, they would have gotten rid of the proxy setting a long time ago. It works for everything you can download on the PS3 such as demos, games, and patches. You cannot use it to download things you have not paid for.

Takes me forever, too. I typically just start the process before I go to bed and then set the PS3 to shutdown after the DL is finished. That way, I'm not sitting around waiting for it to DL.

I think if you hit Triangle when you highlight the active download, you can bring up the option to do this.
