Nintendo just chose to focus this presentation on the controller and 3rd party impressions. There's still plenty of time and events to highlight the other stuff, as there's no way they only have tech demos ready for a console that's launching in 2012.

The controller is just so damn impressive with what they can do. Using it for the wii remote in golf, with the golf ball on the tee on the ground... cool as hell. Being able to stream your game to the controller while you watch tv... cool as hell.
Everyone doubted the wii and it having motion controls, and that turned out just fine for Nintendo.
I'll be buying this on release day.Comment

Re: Nintendo E3 2011 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/7)
It turned out well for nintendo until all those casual people who don't play games only bought one or two games and the third parties stopped bothering trying to make new games for the system or even ports. They'll probably make money since they always make their system as cheap as possible but I, and many other people who actually care about games, don't give a damn how much money they make off the system. Also, the Wii stuff didn't even come close to working as well as they presented it. It took them years until they could come up with the motion plus and that didn't even offer the fidelity that they claimed to have so I'm really skeptical about the stuff they showed in that montage. The controller is just so damn impressive with what they can do. If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Pretty lame that you're supposed to be in the general area of the console if you're trying to play it from the controller like a portable.
Also sounds like the console itself still has to be on as well.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

I care about games too, and have played a lot of great ones on my ps3 as well as Wii. Unless enjoying the Marios, Zeldas, Metroids and Donkey Kongs means I don't care about games as much as you do. Which, obviously, would be an extremely stupid assumption, now wouldn't it?It turned out well for nintendo until all those casual people who don't play games only bought one or two games and the third parties stopped bothering trying to make new games for the system or even ports. It's not lame if your wife wants to watch TV, but the kids still want to play. I am interested in learning more. It's so far away that it's impossible for me to make any kind of buying decision at this time.
Some of you seem to be overly negative about it. Still mad at Nintendo I guess..DON'T PANICComment

I was excited to see what they were showing with the new system when I woke up today. I could care less if it was Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony unveiling this exact console so please don't try to make people who aren't raving about the system to be fanboys.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Re: Nintendo E3 2011 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/7)
The more I think about this, the more I'm liking it.
Really, doesn't it just turn your TV into a huge DS (a WiiDS)? Honestly, how different is this than what a 3DSiXL is? You have your play screen on top (TV) and your touchscreen for whatever and your controls down below (WiiU controller). Developers have done just fine creating useful experiences on the various DS iterations; I'm pretty sure they will do just fine on pretty much a DS HD.XBox Gamertag: djbeth77

Re: Nintendo E3 2011 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/7)
I'm going to guess March to May 2012 (similar path of the 3DS): introduced in playable, tech-demo form at E3, another, closer to launch showing in the winter (in Japan?) with launch and pricing info, and then a release before E3.
My price guess? $300 (system, one touchscreen controller, HDMI cable, and tech-demo type game...maybe some AR card thinger as well)XBox Gamertag: djbeth77
