Re: Xbox One
RE: the internet connection requirement.
Think of it this way.
I'm hoping to play my new game but for some reason, my internet is down. I've tried restarting the modem, router etc. but it still won't connect. Big deal, it's a single player game! So what if I'm not online on XBL? But then, I discover that I can't play the game until I get online. What do I do? I'm stuck because Microsoft is telling me that I'm not allowed to play this single-player game that I bought without my console going online first. There goes my Saturday afternoon plan, maybe I'll just go outside.
Yes, people can play some other time when their internet connection comes back up. It's not the end of the world. The fact of the matter is though, you're restricting my ability to play. If I'm playing a single-player game, the only factors that should come into consideration is a) do I have electricity and b) how much time do I have? When I'm playing BY MYSELF, being connected or not shouldn't be a factor in my gaming experience.
Not all of us live in a world where the internet doesn't drop its connection and is always blazing fast.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I believe that's what MS hinted at wanting to accomplish eventually.
I guarantee that they will be. The 360 wasn't BC either, but they launched their downloadable games section and put XBox 1 (why the hell is this new one called XBox One? It's confusing) games up on it as well as 360 games. PS3 did the same thing. They made a system that isn't BC and then put a section for PS1 and 2 games to be bought.
Even if they don't, it's annoying because they'll eventually turn off your ability to access Live from the 360 and the only way to access your downloaded games and whatnot is will being connected to the Live servers unless you download them to your harddrive.
Now, if the discs weren't BC and MS put the games up on Live then that's kind of shady to me, but I figure that's what will happen down the line especially with the older franchises.
MS sees a market that they're not getting revenue from in the used game sales. It ****ing sucks that it looks like it will affect borrowing/trading games from friends because I do that time to time.

I have Xbox games I play on the 360. Of course not all Xbox games are compatible, but my system is backwards compatible so the original Xbox games being on the marketplace is no different than buying them again at a game store.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Xbox One
Seeing as how you need to be online to play the game/insert the code (the first time) I thought that that assumed to be what I meant. What I'm saying is after having verified the code, why can I not then play the game completely offline?Comment

This is exactly why most companies started with the Online passes. Trying to make some money because they make nothing on used games.Moderator

Re: Xbox One
As far as the Sim City/Diablo scenario, a game forcing you to be online at all times or it won't play is completely different from requiring one check every 24 hours. If it was actually a requirement to be online all the time, I would wholeheartedly agree with your concern.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Xbox One
If you're complaining on principle, that's fine, just be upfront about it. People make these crazy situations that rarely, if ever, happen and act like everyone needs to worry about them.

Re: Xbox One
Thankfully, my internet connection is much, much more stable now compared to a few years ago. It still does go down (which a quick restart will usually fix), and in a few unlucky moments, it might be a few hours, depending on who's to blame (my wires/hardware at home or the ISP itself).
Simply put, if a person wants to play, they should be able to play.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I think we'll see MS back down from a few things by the time this console comes out. The 24 hours is possibly one. The indie devs still needing a publisher is another. And so on.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment
