That's great but was hoping for ability to play our own MP3's/videos and adjust the snap windows & audio.

Snap audio is a must. Gotta be able to mute either side (or a slider between them)

Seems really dumb that this had to be patched. Glad we are finally getting it though.

I feel like the plastic poles are too long or something - am I supposed to snap them off?!?!? lol I haven't touched it until right now because I don't want to hear randoms chatting anymore on bf4
Everytime I plug the headset in, I think I'm going to break it. Many times, I have to turn a big light on to line things up correctly. You're not supposed to break the poles off. It will plug in, but it can be an absolute pain to line things up.

Everything I've read implies that the dashboard was a rush to launch. Rather than have a buggy launch dashboard they removed some features.

Smart overall...can you imagine if they had a buggy one with these features? They would have gotten killed.

Same with Sony to some extent...just releasing headset support now.

They just exchanged the bugs for a more frustrating and lackluster experience from what we were used to on the 360 IMO. But regardless, glad it's getting fixed.

Don't forget the 360 UX had 8-9 years to get polished on top of a stable platform. Think back to how much it changed from the original "blades".

The guys working on the Shell had ~1 year and were working on top of a super complex, constantly changing platform.

5 years from now, we probably won't recognize the experience compared to today.

While my IT background sympathizes with developers being rushed the consumer side of me thinks "no one wants to wait 5 years for the same functionality we had and/or still have if you held onto your 360".

LOL, good point and I hope I didn't come across as saying it would take 5 years. Just that a lot changed with the 360, and a bunch will change with Xbox One as well.

Yeah, I see both sides as well...

I honestly do think they redesigned everything to be better (because at the start of Xbox Live there were things that limited them forever, like max number of friends), but because of that they couldn't redo everything to mimic 360 in time...

Given prior performance I think they'll get Xbox One Live up to par and better as time goes on.

Any idea if the patch will patch in Dolby Digital for optical setting for sound. The reason why I ask is because I have a pair of Astro A50's set up on my xbox one (the sound is good IMO with just stereo uncompressed) but I could have sworn i read somewhere that adding Dolby Digital was on their radar. Could be wrong though.
