Snap is getting the boot for performance reasons. Which I'm fine with. If they get rid of the tv functionality totally though I'm not going to be happy. Like I said earlier right now PS4 is my exclusive box. If I lose the ability to watch tv while gaming in Microsoft's console that will change.

Yeah...i get the feeling they'll have the overlay at some point, just with less of a performance hit.

I was never the biggest snap fan, took up a bunch of screen with black IMO. Though i wouldn't really use overlay much honestly either.

We do like the tv stuff though...I know you can have remotes and things, but it turns things on and off so easily, pauses, mutes, etc. Channels are hit or miss, but we still like it.

We are the same way at our house. We use it to get around the interface and most of the time it works pretty well. It's a shame more people never used the kinect in that way as it was intended as it is pretty cool. The wife loves it.

Yeah...I don't mind just keeping it, and it's a good streaming box as well. Plus i could eventually move one Xbox to my son's room with all the GWG games i have free now...

My son can just hit the xbox circle and turn on the TV, that's pretty nice. Not as nice when he turns everything off to be annoying lol

I wouldn't tell anyone to buy Kinect now, and we ended up not loving the Skype like we thought, but it's a pretty cool thought.

A key will be if more apps come to Xbox One or not...it's always been slower in the app releases, so if the universal windows stuff doesn't make that better than I'd be more likely to use a Fire Stick for streaming instead eventually.

Yeah...it's tough for them, they can't really back it hard anymore, but it was pretty cool.

Wish it didn't get taken out with all the instant online stuff. If they'd delivered their message differently (they've learned their lesson now lol) then maybe Kinect wouldn't have been as panned.

I still use Kinect, but it should have just evolved to being a microphone. They would have sold more consoles in the beginning without it.

There are a lot of people inside the company who agree with you. If Kinect was a mic bar + IR blaster, it'd be like 20% of the price and who knows how different things would be today.

Unfortunately, that's not the route that was taken...

Yeah, I liked the skype feature in theory (though we just use phones now), but never really bought into the video being used in games aspect.

They could have possibly eaten the cost and had the IR/Mic capabilities and kept it on every system.

I still love the Kinect for voice commands. Although now my Xfinity remote has very smooth voice commands built right in to it.

The best Kinect games were on 360. The original Kinect Sports is fantastic (the sequals sucked) and Dance Central was a great game to play. Everything after that fell off a cliff.

I'm pretty sure I'm going with the repair route.

I talked to the owner and he said $50 for labor and $50 for the disc drive. He said it's better to get a new disc drive vs setting for a new lazer or whatever else it may need. He said 4 to 7 day turnaround.

                              Much better than M$
                              Update:

I didn't take the console in till yesterday. We had our son home from college and he wanted to watch Netflix in the mancave. lol. So, the console went in yesterday. The owner told me to bring everything in, but the HDMI cable, but he said that he will start to purchase a controller and the brick because he is starting to see more xbox one's coming in.

He said the part should be in by Monday.
