I'd wait for Scorpio, I only did it because I wanted a UHD player, I had a buddy who works at Dell had a 20% off coupon and a friend who badly wanted to buy my Xbox One so it didn't cost me much at all to upgrade.

You get a UHD player (which is huge if you have a 4K TV IMO, the UHD players cost like $200 by themselves), an improved 4K UI and really nice HDR in some games but that's about it. Well and a smaller, nicer looking console.

But yeah if you can I think it's advisable to wait, I haven't noticed my gaming experience has changed that much on the One.

EDIT: just read others responses, seems to be the consensus the main reason to upgrade is simply if you want a UHD player to go with a new 4K TV..

So I got my 'S' at Costco 2 days ago...and of course...what happens today...it goes down in price to $239.99 (FELLAS - if you were on the fence before....and your a Costco member....definitely take the leap of faith at this price point!)....

Does Costco have a price difference matching policy? And will they issue a refund for the difference on the spot? in cash? or do I have to wait for a check in the mail?
Since I bought my TV there I researched it. Yes they have a price match policy and it is within 30 days. Take your receipt to the store and they should refund you the dough either back on your card or in cash depending upon how you paid.

Yep....Costco refunded the difference in cash....Freakin' love this place! I'm hoping they start stocking ps4 pros and/or Scorpio when it is released (and get the Switch back in stock - with hopefully a larger game library in the future - then I may hop on the Nintendo bandwagon once again). Feel much more confidence when buying electronics knowing that I have 90 day return policy with a 2 year warranty on top of that!

I guess it's my fault they don't fix it right. It sits in a well vented area and doesn't get touched besides changing a disc from time to time..... This time the warranty is up and will cost $115

I'll probably do it and then it will break again and I'll send them another $100+ praying to Jesus they do it right for once. Don't worry though they will send me a free month of Xbox live which amount to anything .....

Just about done with this system, it's been nothing but a head ache most of the time. I love it when it actually works

I haven't played a game on the system for about a month. I pop in a disc last night and the system doesn't recognize it.

I spent well over 2 hours on the phone with MS last evening and performed a litany of test of soft/hard resets, uninstalling the blue ray app, installing the blue ray app, etc... and still wouldn't read a game or movie.

The console is out of warranty and MS wants $135(went up 20 bucks since this post a few years ago) not including shipping and handling.

There is a place about 30 minutes away that repairs computers and gaming systems. $25 diagnostic fee and they waive that fee if you have it fixed there. I'm hoping to fix the disc drive, whether it's cleaning the rollers, or getting a new lazer or new disc drive is a much less expensive approach vs sending the unit to MS and waiting a month for repairs and shipping.

Buying a new system is not an option at this point.

Pretty old but I took mine to a similar place and they did the same as you said if they couldn't fix it. No they couldn't fix mine

It was the disc drive like I knew it was but it must have been completely fried or something after Microsoft claimed to fix it for the 3rd time. I ended up just buying a new damn system

Now my old one has sat in the original box with the cords and such for a very long time. I doubt it's worth anything

Well just to share my experience, it was with an Xbox 360 though. I too had the inability to read discs. I didn't want to buy a new system either. I found a game shop online that said the same as yours, I think it was $20 to diagnose and then they would give credit of that $20 to repair it.

So I took mine to this shop and met the guy, he was this really old dude who looked like he wouldn't even know what a game console was, LOL. I paid him the $20 to look at it and he called the next day and said it was fixed. He didn't even do a diagnostic and then ask me what to do, he just fixed it for $20.

I was highly skeptical that he'd fixed it for $20 but lo and behold, took it back to my apartment and it worked! And guess what, it worked for several more years without any issue.

So don't give up hope, I think you may be surprised at what some of these game shops can do for cheap. It's worth a shot!

I talked to the owner and he said $50 for labor and $50 for the disc drive. He said it's better to get a new disc drive vs setting for a new lazer or whatever else it may need. He said 4 to 7 day turnaround.

Will it play any games you have? Mine recognized installed ones, so I traded it in to Gamestop with the game and they tested it there. Did it twice like a year and a half ago or something, with the 250 per trade in towards another system deal. Luckily so far my discs are ok, hoping these systems won't have issues. I'd probably try and trade in for an S if I ever had to.
