Also after the latest update you can pass through Dolby Atoms through HDMI to a receiver capable of handling it so it seems like it can pretty much do it all now. I'm very happy with it.

Hold up....wait....did you just say this XBone S is capable to do Dolby Atmos?!?! Not that I have an audio system ready to do Atmos...But wow...that is an actual option now for the XBone?

I'm glad you confirmed my impression regarding PQ...Thought maybe I was experiencing placebo effect...Now I'm questioning whether or not I should invest in a standalone player considering this thing plays games as well (or wait on Project Scorpio)....Options...Options...Options...

The Sony UBP-X800 will do circles around the One S.

I don't have it yet but I'll be getting it very soon. It's along the same level as an OPPO player.

Sony’s first 4K Blu-ray player sets a new benchmark for the money...

I was considering the OPPO player but have heard there are quite a number of issues that firmware updates have not been quick enough to resolve....Have you also looked into the Panasonic 4k payer, dmp-ub900?

The Sony player actually makes the optical drive for the OPPO. I have looked into it, but I'll be going with the Sony.

Honestly it mostly depends on your setup. For mine the Sony would do next to nothing better then the Xbox One S. But that's mainly because my sound system is a Sonos HT and it only can process DD. Which I'm fine with. Were already talking 4k hdr so I can't imagine the difference in PQ would be much at all.

But if I did have all the bells and whistles that a true surround sound set up offers then ya I'd take the Sony easy.

Harder to sell a console with the same games, no exclusives (meaning Scorpio over XB1) over a new console with new games. Going to be an interesting fall and fun for gamers.

I missed the alpha session Saturday. So annoying. Didn't realize it was mid day.

Got the article to load. Only thing I don't understand is you could argue right now that the switch seems to be doing fine even though it has no solid exclusives and honestly isn't really much different than the Wii U from my pov. Also the power difference between Xbox one to Scorpio is going to be greater than Wii U to switch. The switch just relies heavily on it being a complete on the go handheld, it's the only thing that sets it apart from the Wii U. Has nothing to do with exclusives right now.

I think Scorpio will be fine. It will be the best thing going console wise when it launches.

By the time it releases I'll own almost 200 games that will run on the Scorpio day 1. Apples and oranges to the traditional software reset + remasters/ports the Switch is doing and is a big reason we'll be in this ecosystem for the long haul.

I see the fall/holiday season belonging to PS4/PS4 Pro followed by Scorpio/Xbox One Slim followed by Switch. Microsoft doesn't need to worry about Switch simply because in the end, Scorpio will offer way more than what the Switch offers. The biggest positive Switch has is it's portability but the problem with that is that 3DS still exists and if you're Nintendo, you can't abandon 3DS simply because if you do and Switch fails, you're pretty much done.

As for exclusives, PS4 has dominated throughout the generation and they did it with NO "system sellers" exclusives for two a half years. First being Uncharted 4. Exclusives are important but nowhere near as important as people think they are. Exclusives are most important to Nintendo because they don't have much else to offer. Problem is that not every gamer wants to play "kids" games. Yeah, they're great but aren't classics and they sure as hell don't surpass the past. Add in the fact that their online will be worse, no third party support, no 4K/HDR, no apps as of yet, etc. and the ONLY thing that Nintendo has is their portability BUT if you're a 3DS owner, why would you buy a Switch considering each console's library of games?

Granted, Switch is only a month old but once Nintendo releases their big three (Zelda, Mario and Pokémon), they have nothing left to offer. Metroid and DK are good but they aren't system sellers. Add in the fact that even Nintendo exclusives can't hit 1080P let alone offer anything better visually and Microsoft will easily be better come the fall and holiday season.

I'm not the biggest Microsoft fan whatsoever but even at $100 more than Switch, Scorpio will outsell Switch simply because all the games look better, run better, play better and the console offers so much more.

Microsoft should be more worried about the perception of losing twice in the same generation. This is a valid concern. Nintendo, not so much, if at all.
