    Re: Xbox One

We should know right off the bat about the Xbox One tomorrow. Probably going to be one of the most interesting days in video game history.

To add, this is not a political forum, and stuff like this was mentioned in Apple's new ios6 camera disabled patent by the government on this forum. You never heard about it from us before here, because other events had no bearing on gaming. Now that it is bleeding into "gaming", it has become open for discussion. Common sense.
      Exactly!

Like Cuse also stated, the facts remains it is happening whether how serious or detrimental people view it the bottom line it is going on. That to me should be enough to open some eyes about how deep this rabbit hole will go.

As EN stated, I think the loudest here on the kinect topic are ones who have been following our government tread the grey area we are in currently in between what's "protection" and what's "spying".

I think the difference with here is that console machines are consumables of desires, we don't have to have a gaming console. Where going without a cell phone these days is damn near impossible so our hand is forced in this regard.

If the X1 kinect stays how it currently is, it becomes entirely up to the consumers doing to be "pro" camera in the house or "nay" on it.

I view it almost like voting on a proposition.

Now I will say I think it's sad we have to even discuss a privacy matter with a game console. I think it is far more telling that a video game console meant to pass the time playing video games is openly saying they want to collect data from you and not only do that if you choose to allow it but no it is forcing it by saying you will agree or else. I think people need to look at that more so and why. Why is a "toy" you can technically call it being brought into this type of discussion.

No worries 23, I really just started that thread for some pre-game E3 chat. I'm guessing/hoping there will be way too much information to stay contained in one thread anyway.

What are you guys expecting tomorrow though? Previews to the same IPs they show every year at E3?

I think this E3 conference week is Sony's to lose.

Regarding the Xbox IPs, I don't think we will see too much of the same honestly. If these systems were on a level playing ground as far as the system restrictions go (in a positive manner), I'd probably be much more excited for Microsoft's conference.

The reason I say that is because even though they have the few sequels you would expect (i.e. Halo, Forza, Gears), I think they have more room to be create excitement with new IPs going into the new generation. Sony, meanwhile, will still have more franchises that people actually do want to see more sequels to. The problem with sequels normally though is that a lot stays the same. People still want God of War, Uncharted, Yakuza, all the JRPGs that are still in a series, Killzone, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, etc. While they will obviously have new IPs, I feel like the likelihood we see a lot of old IPs is more likely from Sony than MS. Sony does have the benefit of the indies on their side this time though, so that should help out as well.

However, they aren't on the same playing field right now, so your last statement is how I feel as well. Still, ready to see what Microsoft brings to the table.

I phrased it wrong. I meant in terms of both companies. Im not anticipating a group of games that will save the Xbox (or make people just accept this stuff for the sake of playing those games), nor a group of games on Sony's side that will give them a significant advantage. The "I need to wait till I see the games" rhetoric is pretty worthless to me at this point.

The conference is broken down into Microsoft dropping more news to shoot themselves in the foot versus Sony either confirming/showing us that they are doing all the same stuff as MS or keeping it like it is now.

Eh, wasn't really making it about Microsoft saving themselves. Nor was I going with the "I need to see more" rhetoric. Just literally how I personally think things will break down personally as far as new IPs go.

Don't care who "wins" personally. I just want some damn creativity/fun from both. But like I said, from the public perspective, I do think agree with the last part of both of your previous two posts.

Between companies mining your online data for what advertisements will work best on you to what ever shady stuff the Gov't is up to, in some fashion you are certainly being watched. Imagine a law enforcement agency getting a wiretap to get a live feed into a drug dealers house to see what they are up to. 10 Years ago I would have said that the Gov't being able to see everything you do online is paranoia but it is happening.

If the Technology exists for something happen, it will eventually happen.
Maybe paranoia was the wrong term. My point wasn't that the government doesn't have the ability to watch you. My point is why would they? Unless you're hatching terrorist plots, making drug deals, or dragging dead bodies around, they have no reason to want to. There is no incentive.
