    Re: Xbox One

The point of all this it shouldn't be this hard or we shouldn't need all these explanations for a game console. When you really think about it, it is extremely ridiculous. Game consoles shouldn't be this abstract and require so much information.

Except Microsoft is attempting to create a paradigm shift. Their biggest mistake is not selling their vision.

The Xbone is a very progressive system.

Probably because they can't even see their vision... They are blinded by what they think will make them more money, but in actuality will cost them a large population of their audience. Since when did game consoles become about everything but games?

They are attempting to create a purely digital format. Games become much more accessible and much cheaper.

This benefits gamers a great deal. Who it does not benefit are the Gamestops and Walmarts making a margin on the transactions between consumers and publishers.

They are selling it. People arent buying it. People want to easily trade used games. They want to rent games. People like to have the ability to play their games offline if needed. They dont mind buying discs.

MS is acting as if they are fixing issues that consumers have with video games when they aren't. They are fixing issues game developers have had with games.

How do we benefit from that? They are controlling who we sell our games too and telling us we can't play our games we paid for without the internet. Friends borrowing games is a thing of the past with the new Xbox One. I never buy digital and I know plenty of people they completely will not buy digitally. Please don't speak for gamers because clearly based on feedback you don't speak for gamers and Microsoft certainly doesn't. If gamers benefited at all from this the reception would be a lot different don't ya think?...

MS and Sony have never shown that to be the case. They have been selling games digitally for almost 3 yrs and all the games are 60 bucks on release day same as retail.

How do trade a game in from Steam?

What's the average trade in value? 10-20 dollars?

What if all digital games where 39.99, already less than a game less trade in?

I am not limiting anyone's response or questioning their needs, but it is clear that the Xbone is preparing for a new model.

What about when your internet is down for over 24 hours? What happens when you go on the road for a job and are gone for weeks sitting at a hotel? What happens if you can't pay the internet for another 3 days? I know what doesn't happen and that is play your Xbox games YOU paid for.

Edit: To my knowledge you can still play PC games offline just not the multiplayer. Xbox One you can't play ANY.

And none of those games are able to be resold.

What if this new system allows that through a credit system?

Again, right or wrong the Xbone is trying something new.

I dont get your first question. I'm talking about console gamers. The gamers who make up the majority of gamers on the planet. Steam doesnt come into play for them and that includes me.

Yep. Sometimes as much as 30 depending on when you trade it in. I can get anywhere from 30-50 if I sell it on Ebay depending on the time. Cant do the Ebay route on XB1.

What ifs dont work here. MS has never shown an willingness to offer lower digital prices at release. Why would I believe that once we go all digital, prices will drop to 39.99 when almost all games are offered digitally now at release and NONE of them are offered at a reduced price?

The one Gametrailer panel discussion alluded to it.

They have a digital borrowing system where you name 10 "family" members that have access to your game library.
