Re: Xbox 720
I applaud Sony for the steps they've taken, I am not sold on either until we get a clear picture of both offerings though with few exceptions. Namely the cost of Sony's console now that they've doubled the RAM ($599 would not surprise me now) and price and features of their online service.
A comparable console with one of their 'buy it for ~$199, but you have to sub to the Live service you're going to pay for anyways for 2 years' offer would basically print them money I'd think. I wonder if Sony has any chance of putting together any kind of package like that.
In the end, I am looking forward to MS to continue to innovate. Sony's now copied Kinect, so lets see what Kinect 2.0 can do.
Always-on w/ HDMI pass-through with next gen console specs would be the slam dunk that lands me as an early adopter though.Comment

Windows integration is something that I'm curious about. I like what Microsoft did with Smartglass, one of my favorite xbox features right now. I want to know what more they have up their sleeve as far as integration with other devices.

Yeah, meant to mention that too... with two Windows 8 gaming rigs and a Windows 8 Pro tablet (Acer W700)... playing games to the Vita is pretty cool, but imagine if you could play Nextbox games to any Windows 8 device that met some reasonable system requirements?
Again, just want to see them innovate.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
They could release a console that is identical if not a little less powerful than the PS4 and I'd lean MS because they're much more west-centric, and more responsive (ie all the dashboard revisions).

Re: Xbox 720
then as far as Madden.. I basically want to see better AI and player interactions and not just a prettier version.
I can only support 1 new console and $ will be a key player.Joshua:

Re: Xbox 720
Did you see the GaiKai part when they talked about Spectator mode, which gives you the ability to watch your friends play a game even while you play another, send a multicast to a group of friends so they can watch you play a game while commenting or chatting, and you can even take over playing a friends game if you wanted! That didnt impress you? Im sorry, but if Xbox does not have anything to rival this, then I'm meeting new friends on PSN, and I'm pretty sure alot if my Xbox friends will be joining me.
If the game (Madden only thing I play online) is the same Madden but prettier it doesn't matter to me whether I can watch another persons game or not as I won't be in a league.
I LOVE that feature don't get me wrong but it's more about the game than anything else.Joshua:

SIAP
X-Box 720 to block used software
Industry veteran and Eidos life president Ian Livingstone has said Microsoft's next Xbox will block pre-owned games and require an active internet connection.
Speaking to MCV India, Livingstone said the next-gen consoles weren't prepared to go towards a digital-only method of distributing games. "The next iteration of consoles--the PS4 and the next Xbox, have got optical disc drives even though they probably don’t want to have them," said Livingstone. "Broadband speed globally isn’t at a level that justifies digital-only.”
As part of its PlayStation 4 unveiling last week, Sony confirmed that its next-gen console wasn't going to block pre-owned software. Microsoft, on the other hand, has "gone halfway” between physical and digital distribution with the new Xbox, blocking pre-owned in the process according to Livingstone.
“With the next Xbox, you supposedly have to have an internet connection, and the discs are watermarked, whereby once played on one console it won’t play on another," said Livingstone.

Seriously, if this is true and they go ahead with this decision I can't help but feel the console war for this "next-gen" is already over in favor of Sony.PS: You guys are great.

Re: Xbox 720
I love how the Eidos president says "supposedly", and suddenly Gamespot's title of their story is "XBox 720 to block used games" LOL
I just can't see this being a real option, if it is, then I agree, Sony has already won. Just seems like this guy took the Edge magazine article and spoke on that instead of true facts.Comment

One things for sure. IF MS goes that route I'll own a PS4.Joshua:

I won't be buying a 720 if I can't buy pre-owned games. I have been able to put together a nice library of games via the pre-owned route, and there are very few games which are "worth" the price point that they are sold at.
For instance, I love comic games, but most of the Marvel ones suck. I would never pay retail for Marvel Ultimate Alliance at $49.99 or $59.99, but I would def pick it up pre-owned at $24.99.
This news/rumor is unsettling to say the least...Last edited by JBH3; 02-26-2013, 09:10 AM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
Absolutely Sky! I have already stated I'm going Xbox no matter what. Now the reason I am owning a console at all is because a bunch of my buddies who are in college or out of state, we can get in party chat, talk, and catch up. All of them own 360 and I already talked to many that want the 720.
Now as far as me, I would not own a console if it was not for this. I would go PC only and just be done with football games. That is not the case though, these guys will never own a gaming PC so I will own one single console that they all own.
If this goes into affect, I'm telling all of them to stay away from the 360 and I will get all of them to go PS4. MS cuts our legs out from under us by removing used games, you can mark the end of the console war. MS will lose before the battle even started.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
Me too, but seems Sony is backing off on their earlier claims on used games working on their system now or not being clarified, so it may be too early in the game to know for sure on either console. I am not too big on the used games myself, but I could go either way at this point or be fine without either.
