Just read this Phil Spencer interview via N4G -

Must admit that I love this guy and he should have been put in charge of the Xbox brand years ago. And to know that Rare is currently working on a non-Kinect Xbox One game has me excited and pumped up. I'm going to guess that it will debut at E3 2015 and be an action adventure platformer ala Banjo and Conker.

        Re: Xbox One

        A) Decent interview, though too much time was spent on Tomb Raider.
        B) I like Phil - but just like every corporate exec, you have to take what they say with a grain (or handful) of salt.
        C) He didn't say Rare was working on a non-Kinect game. They might be, they might have some ideas for some, but nowhere did he say they were. Hopefully they are, because Rare has went to absolute rubbish the past however many years. Also, remember, most of the people that were there for the creation of the games in their heyday are gone. I know the lead designer now runs his own indie studio.

I'm still rubbed the wrong way about the entire Tomb Raider thing, though. In the end all it does is hurt gamers and owners of every console involved in the fiasco. There's no good way to spin it for consumers.

It was coming out for the XBone. This isn't a game that needed rescuing. MS could have easily put that money towards a new IP, or rescued something, or helped fund smaller games. There would be more games and still the ability to play TR on the console.

          A) That's what all the talk is about right now so it obviously would be the focal point.
          B) True but he's more open and straight forward than any "figurehead" that I have ever seen or heard. He's the best executive that I have seen since Reggie said he's all about kicking @$$. Must admit that even if it's something that I don't like, I rather have the guy tell me what it is instead of avoiding the topic.
          C) We know that Rare is working on an Xbox One game. There's NO WAY that it will be a Kinect game as that would make no sense whatsoever since Spencer isn't focusing or concentrating on Kinect like it was pre-Spencer. Game itself is just my guess. And yeah, I know that the majority of people are long gone but I still think that those who are there can still make good or better games. With Spencer overlooking everything, im sure they will.

As for Tomb Raider, Microsoft offered enough money to where Square Enix accepted it. Personally, I like the move because it shows Microsoft and Spencer being aggressive. It's no different than Sony buying the rights to No Man's Sky and other Indie games as PS4 exclusives, timed or otherwise. Only difference here is that Tomb Raider is a known name brand and with 10m people owning a PS4 and possibly not owning an Xbox One, those fans are pissed off.

Uncharted 4 vs Rise of the Tomb Raider is going to be a lot of fun and I can see why Microsoft went after it. Uncharted is basically built off the old Tomb Raider PSone games. I enjoyed Tomb Raider more than Uncharted 3 and am looking forward to playing the sequel. I look at this move like back in the days of professional wrestling when WWF, WCW and ECW were going head to head and a top ten wrestler would jump from one promotion to the other.

Fans may not like it but it's entertaining and fun to watch because you want to see what the competition does in response. Either way, I was already going to buy an Xbox One eventually anyway. Rise of the Tomb Raider just gives me more incentive to do so.

Except it is entirely different. Also, comparing a AAA studio/game with hundreds of minions working on a game for all platforms to a couple people trying to complete a game for one platform (let alone extra platforms) is silly. You know how many people are on the No Man's Sky team? Four. Four people.

Sony didn't buy the rights to No Man's Sky. No Man's Sky is coming out on PC, and it also has to do with the flood Hello Games suffered.

As for others... let's just say Sony didn't necessarily sign them to exclusives. There is more than enough hatred of Microsoft in the indie game developer community - rightful or not that's just how it is.

(see: here, here, here, here and many others)

Note: Microsoft is a lot better than it used to be with these things, but that kind of mistreatment/hatred for them isn't something that goes away easy - especially when this is one's own creation and something they have devoted their life to learning/doing.

That, plus the self-publishing fiasco, is one of the reasons you see Sony/PC with more indies than Microsoft. Not because Sony bought them.

Don't see what's the big deal. The game will come out later on for the ps4 and for those that can't wait just buy an xbox one. I'd be upset if square enix owned the rights to being the only company allowed to make action/adventure games and do a bad job at it like one of the giant sports gaming publishers. This is all a business move to get people to buy an xbox and both companies do it. It's business and since the ps4 is outselling the xbox 3:1 I don't blame Microsoft for doing this.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

Sooo... you'd rather have Microsoft spend a decent amount of money (let's not kid ourselves, it wasn't a paltry sum) on a game you could have played regardless... instead of funding new games.

Gotcha. Game won't move systems though. Wouldn't move PS4s if it was a PS-exclusive either.

Anybody getting the Madden bundle? I'm not sure I want to wait until the end of October to get my Sunset bundle.

If I were to get a bundle, it would be the advanced warfare bundle as it has 1tb of space. The white is really nice though but I personally would find the extra space much more useful than the color.

Pinball FX2 released last night, complete with the transfer of previously purchased tables on the X360. Looks like it is only a one-way street with regards to transferring tables...only tables purchased on X360 will transfer to the One and not from the One to the X360, so purchase the tables on the X360 to have them on both consoles. They also changed the interface up a bit...instead of the one big list of tables, the Marvel tables and Star Wars tables have their own section apart from the Zen tables. The interface looks a lot cleaner with the sectioned/organized layout.

It's not at all like that.

Lets say your favorite wrestler from back in the day was recently revived. A year later, they created a better version of him that would be available on a new premium network. The premium network is $400, but you can watch other wrestlers and promotions. After seeing his new look, people are pretty excited and can't wait to see what he does next.

Unfortunately, though, because of a deal with a different network, the promotion is moving him to a new network that you have to pay another $400 for.

It's more like that since switching between main promotions in wrestling just meant switching to a different channel that you already had.

They should spend their money on new IP and helping develop new games. Paying for a game that was going to exist for all platforms anyway just so you can block out an audience from playing an entire game for a year or so is a garbage deal. I wouldn't want that to happen to any of my other franchise.

Some of us are fortunate in that we have the ability to buy multiple systems. It's good that it's not a complete exclusive deal, but the deal is still poor for gamers regardless.

I think Microsoft has enough money to invest in as many ips as they want to. This deal doesn't change that.
