Picked up the HGST Touro Mobile Pro 1GB External for $60.00 from Micro Center. It's 1 of the recommended externals for the XB-1. Definitely noticed games loading much faster.

Anyone next to a Micro Center who's looking for an external, might want to jump on this

Ok guys how does the HDMI passthrough work exactly? I just got myself a new TV (47 inch LG) but it only has 2 HDMI slots and I got 3 devices (PS4, Xbone and PC) that need hooked up to it. My plan was to keep switching HDMI slots between the PS4 and Xbone but then I remembered the Xbones HDMI pass through and thought I could leave my PC and Xbone plugged into the TV while I plug my PS4 into my Xbone, I am just unfamiliar with the feature.

The HDMI pass through on Xbox One adds latency - don't recommend it for video games. You should research HDMI switches.

Right now I'm using my PS4 hdd in a 3.0 case. I'm thinking of going to a 3.5 hdd at least 2 TB 7200 rpm and a docking station.

Looking for some advice on this... (Ive been doing some searching on here and in this thread but I thought it might be easier to ask at this point.)

I am getting ready to purchase this system. Obviously I want the best deal possible. I admit I have not been following much since the release of the system. I have a few questions.

So the Kinect isnt included with the bundles for $399.00 right? and it isnt sold separately yet? Im going to want the Kinect but I dont need it immediately. Thoughts?

What are the opinions on the hard drive? Basically you only have the 500 gb for now until a 1,000 gb one is released in November? I dont see myself playing tons of games and I dont see redownloading them to be a huge issue. Would waiting be worth it? Are the external hard drives a good option?

I was thinking of getting the Madden bundle but I could be willing to wait until like a Black Friday deal if anyone thinks they will have any good deals on the system.

Basically all I really want to do is play Madden and the new Elder Scrolls game (is that even out yet?). Is not having a Kinect going to be an issue? Would anyone recommend waiting? Are external hard drives going to be easy to pick up and not void the warranty?

Overall just looking for some advice. Thanks for any help you can give.

The Kinect does not come with the $399 systems. It's not available separately yet, but will come out on Oct 7 for $149.99. As for not having the Kinect being an issue, it's really a personal preference thing. I enjoy having the Kinect on Madden for the voice commands before plays. Personally, I don't see the need to pay extra for a bigger internal hard drive when the external drives work perfectly fine. The external hard drives don't void the warranty, all you do is plug it into the usb port. As for Black Friday deals, I don't expect there to be discounts on the price point, but I would expect an extra game or two bundled for the $399 or $499 price.

For you digital peeps, are you glad you're all digital? I only have 3 games with 2 on disc and FIFA 14 which came with the system but been thinking for a while of going all digital. Just can't make the leap. Always feels like you don't actually own them, lol.

For the record, I don't sell my games so reselling isn't an issue.

Im very happy with digital, the instant switching between games, auto mid-game saves, and not having to get up to swap out games has me hooked, im not going physical again (unless i rent a game) its so convenient. Also games are attached to your account, so you will always own them as long as you have an XboxONE or your account get banned.

I'm going all digital for the One. Came with digital code for Forza, and my only other games have been the monthly free games so far. Destiny will be my first game I'll buy, going Digital for that. I also don't really sell my games either, and I've been all digital on PC for a long time now. I picked up a small portable 4TB external HDD and will put my games on that.

500gb will be more than enough unless you have a ton of games. I had 8 disk installs, 3 ea access vault games, all the games with gold, plus whatever apps I have downloaded. I only recently had to make room for madden 15 (Dead rising 3 to make a bunch of room, and madden 25 since i wasn't going to play it anymore.) And if you buy games on disk, it is easy enough to delete a disk game you havent played in a while, then delete something else and reinstall a disk.

Kinect - I love it for switching apps/games, and tv. and needed for xbox fitness of course. I would recommend it because it is a nice feature and really brings out the full use of the system. if you plan on having your tv running through, want the novelty of easy switching, or plan on actually using the kinect for games such as xbox fitness then it is a definite need. They will retail for 150 when available, so if you get it packaged in the 499 console you would save yourself 50 bucks. Or you can get a 399 console and find one on ebay for under 100 probably, but who knows how much that will rise once the retail kinects are available.

and on the external, yeah they dont void the warranty. You can find 1tb or some 2tb for under $100 to add on to the internal 500gb if you go that route.

I want to for the ease of access especially because i dont trade in games other than old sports games, however i still have gcu at best buy and hard to ignore the 20% off. If only MS went to their original plan where you dont need disks in the system to play the game, yet could still trade them in at authorized retailers...

I do have around 50 games on steam and it's great being able to switch between whatever you want but it's kind of stupid as if I go digital on the One, I'm kind of feeling like I don't own them, lol.

Maybe my previous console history has something to do with it. I still have my original Xbox at the holiday house with discs and still have the PS3 and Xbox 360 with discs that will serve the same purpose shortly so I'll probably do the same with the One but that's 7+ years away too. To not have the discs is different.

I definitely know the switching within steam is great and it would be cool to not have to change discs with the One I guess. All those free gold 360 games I've got the past year are all digital obviously and that has been good.

                              Digital it is I guess
