It's a shame that people don't use the Kinect. Once the phrases and cadence are used appropriately it's damn near perfect. I haven't used a remote control in months.

Yeah it's really great. You aren't really using the console to it's full potential if you don't imo.

I have both consoles and pretty much (or already do) use the XB1 as my entertainment source, FPS shooter games and exclusives of course. Going to use my PS4 for all other games and their exclusives,

I'll never understand why people buy this console and leave the kinect unplugged. Like they are scared of it or something.

google kinect and NSA. should be pretty self explanatory after you do that.

It almost never turns on for me. I can get it to turn off fine, but I waster about 2 minutes pleading with it to turn on. I don't use it to change channels because I don't wanna go through the end hassle of it turning to random channels.

You guys that regularly use it don't have these issues?

It's pretty funny in my case, almost like a dog. It won't listen to my fiance and she hates it, but for me I say "watch TV" calmly (almost too quiet just to make it even more infuriating) and it does it immediately.

You can give it a tuning again like when you first bought it, ... maybe you did it originally with music in the background or the dishwasher etc. OR someone else entirely set it up?

When it recognizes me as I sit down beside her is priceless too "Hi Fraser" lol, she rolls her eyes and is so annoyed by it LOL

Mine is finicky with the "turn on" command at times but that's the only one I've had issue with. I've never pleaded with it for 2 min though.....LOL!, after a couple tries if it doesn't come on I just hit the button!

You can't yell at the kinect. It needs to be calibrated correctly and you should be able to just talk normal to it. If you have to raise your voice something is not calibrated right.

And pause after saying xbox to turn it on for better results. It is using only the Kinect to process that command.

You can't yell at the kinect. It needs to be calibrated correctly and you should be able to just talk normal to it. If you have to raise your voice something is not calibrated right.

Ya but sometimes I play my games loud while other times have to play with low volume. It seems to mess with the kinect hearing you

Yes to all of these. Mestovo's correct in why it doesn't get processed like all other commands.

It seems to be getting better for me, though my wife has issues. I sometimes have to ask 3-5 times, but that's easier than using the controller or remote I have, and I like to make it work lol.

I'm hoping that the option to opt in and give them our voice info will help make the recognition a lot better.

I felt I had to say the commands pretty loudly at first, I then recalibrated and now I feel I don't need to be very loud at all. The trick was with turning the volume up "louder than normal." Normal on my tv is around 15. The first time I had it in the 35 range when calibrating. The 2nd time I did it at the max of 50. Has been much more responsive since doing that and very rarely have to repeat a command.
