As far as the price drop goes,I am definitely listening,but still not convinced yet.
As been mentioned,specs mean alot to me and for MYSELF it doesn't make sense at the same price point.

None of the snap stuff and TV stuff I absolutely have no interest in...but that doesn't mean for others it isn't a big deal...all I know is right now,Sony is offering more of what I want....that's certainly not to say I wouldn't ever get the one...because at some point I'm sure I will.

You were on PS3 more then 360 right? So what was the excuse then?

Specs were better on PS3 but games looked better on 360 (third party) the whole cycle. But I bet you were on PS3 more. So last gen Sony offered you less graphical prowess for third party over 360 yet you decided to flow that way and this gen you are about what offers better third party graphical achievements therefore you roll with Sony?

True...I think the point is that some people might like all the media/tv and other apps (skype, etc) at a competitive price point. The general public don't put as much thought into decisions like we do.

Will be interesting to see what impact this has for sure.

PS3 was more powerful then 360 and that gap was bigger in terms of specs then xb1 and ps4

PS3 had a faster CPU at floating point calculations that was extremely different and hard for mediocre programmers to utilize. For general computing tasks, 360 had a faster CPU.

360 had an ever so slightly slightly faster GPU.

The gap between PS3 and 360 is smaller than the gap between PS4 XBone.

1-I played 360 from 2005-2010...
2-I played PS3 from 2010-2014...

Unlike some folks,I have no allegiance to any company...I go where I feel like it...whom ever offers what I want,I go...simple as that,not sure why that is such a hard concept to understand.

Also...just to "humor" you,the reason I switched last gen,was because Sony offered first party titles I was interested in...I simply didn't enjoy MS lineup...I know it's a hard concept for some to grasp...but it's possible to like more than 1 console.

I certainly wouldn't make a lame attempt at "console allegiance" to call folks "homers" just because they prefer one over the other....which you so conveniently did.

Good moves as long as it helps sales...I remember when people wanted it the same price as the PS4 with no kinect. Now the price drop with no kinect and it now it needs to be cheaper.

At 399 the XB1 with no kinect now offers more value for the 399 over PS4 and it is hard t argue against that unless you are just being a homer.

I have both and enjoy both and agree that XB1 need to lower the price to 399 and removing the kinect achieved that but now if your factor is PS4 has more pixels so that means is better is not looking at things correct.

All this back and forth about resolution started with COD ghost but last year nobody talked about resolution even when most 360 third party games looked better on 360. It was about having more people playing on that console

All of a sudden now resolution is the key factor in some saying that is the better choice.

BUt now we want to talk about resolution.

With XB1 you now get snap features at 399 and still get tv features without the kinect.

It does more then ps4 and has no pay wall

The ps4 will have better resolution in 3rd party titles? Yea sure ok well that is not or should not be the determining factor in value for the 399

What the console allows you to do for that amount of money should be and no denying even if you dont want to care for snap or tv features it still offers more then ps4

Yeah, I totally get that.

It's interesting to me though that there are differences in software/dashboard, so at the same price it's definitely more appealing to the general consumer.

Each gamer is different as far as needs and interests.
I'm not a "homer" but for me this gen the PS4 delivers what I want more than the X1.

I was an XBOX/XBOX 360 guy by far over the PS brand but I wasn't a homer then either.

This gen it's reversed. Not because of anything more than the PS4 brings me what I want from a gaming machine.
Simple as that.

That just means I am not the main focus of MS in their latest installment, which is fine.
Hopefully the LIVE Gold will make it to the level of PS+ as far as the free games and discounts as that alone has paid for the PS+ 10x's over.

If the opposite is true for some the great. As long as we all have a system we can hook onto that's what matters.

I am excited to see what E3 shows us and to see if anything gets my interest up for the X1.

For people that want gaming machines I recommend the PS4, you're 100% right....

If you don't like Kinect or the added TV features, along with the nifty dashboard features, then a lot of Xbox One is lost to people...Those are features that are unique to Xbox though, so that's what makes this E3 pretty big. If MS can come out shooting with awesome games compared to Sony's offering then things could easily start to sway.

Even with this price drop im still not interested. I'll buy an X1 eventually but I need games.

The X1 this gen will be what they PS3 was for me last gen. Simply a console for exclusives and nothing more. My PS4 is and always will be my main gaming machine and the X1 when I get it will be for games like Forza, Gears, Halo, etc

Today was another win for consumers. We now get more value out of our Live subscriptions with Games for Gold and those gamers not wanting forced Kinect now have a choice and price drop on top of that. This can only help get MS back in the race, but the one thing left that could be the deciding factor will be pricing on digital downloads. If either of these companies announce $45 or less discounts on digital DLs over retail pricing, that could seal the deal.
