Hope that gaming will never ever go all digital but if it does, the previous generation of consoles would be my last.

It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I would think there'd be a way to buy a physical version on a drive or something....once prices on cards like that come down maybe? or you can bring a drive to the store and they'll load the game on it somehow? i dunnoNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
Thats an interesting thought. I always figured the stores would just start selling the digital codes along with the digital currency. Im sure the big 3 (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) are looking for a breakthrough way to get consumers to embrace digital gaming with their next generation of consoles. The other thing I think is possible similar to the PS now system perhaps when the internet evolves further we would no longer need home consoles we could just stream games through any supported device as long as we owned a license for it. Who knows. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Do you not buy digital music or movies either or is that just for games?
I'm all digital now gaming wise, and it's so much better and more practical. It's great being able to switch games and apps in a matter of a few seconds.Comment

Re: Xbox One
The only downside to all digital is the fact that companies then control your actual products and you no longer have physical ownership.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

That's why the MS idea of a disc but also having a key was cool...but shot down by stupid gaming masses lol
Man, i'd love to just be able to trade back in games with a push of a button, or have GS/BB use a system to track the codes...oh well.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
We likely won't see all digital in most of our lives IMO. The companies themselves aren't real eager to go that route. I mean look at the Xbox One press conference and how that launch happened. Then look at the pathetic hard drive space the companies all shipped with. 500gb?? Lol, that's not a drive conducive to being digital friendly.
I'm a guy who buys most of my games digitally but I'm an anomaly because I own multiple systems, which most people do not. Also, don't forget that it takes years and years to change how the general public buy certain things...I mean my goodness how long did DVDS stick around? And the fact that the companies also continue to charge the same or more than physical discs just proves they are still nicely in bed with their distributors and are not real eager to try to convince the public to switch.
Yes it likely will happen but not for a long, long time. Let's face it, for most folks there is a certain allure to getting in the car on launch day and going and getting a physical disc and that won't change across the board anytime soon. And if data caps become the norm here like some companies want it will never happen.Last edited by ODogg; 12-02-2014, 08:37 PM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Xbox One
Not for the rest of our lives? Are you like 90?
There will be options for those who are less fortunate connection-wise but we're just a generation or two away at best from basically what MS was trying to do with the Xbox One originally to some degree. Just executed better.Last edited by mestevo; 12-02-2014, 09:39 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox One
I believe MS thought they had enough consumer momentum with the 360 to warrant an all digital push, but the way they handled it was horrid. I remember the former exec basically saying, if you don't like it then just get a 360.
Couple that with people on the Internet going nuts about kinect sending their living room to the NSA and there was no hope.Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.Comment
