    Re: Xbox One

Not trying to accomplish anything. Was pointing out a trend I've noticed in here that causes me to not visit the thread much.

And you're right. There is little to discuss, so why are you making a bigger deal out of things than needed? Like I said, move on.

I agree with areobee401 about one thing -

The "entertainment" stuff gets talked about MORE than the games do for Xbox One. Sorry but that's kind of sad in my opinion.

If you love talking to your TV and want all those voice commands and whatnot, buy Kinect. Otherwise, don't.

Luckily for me, all this "entertainment" stuff hasn't turned me off from buying an Xbox One later this month or early April. To me, a video game console's "entertainment" should be the games, first and foremost.

      Otherwise, it's just another 3DO.

On a gaming note - rumors have it that Quantum Break is going to be delayed until early 2016. Must admit that im disappointed and happy at the same time. Disappointed since it was one of the main games that I wanted to play this year on Xbox One but happy because 2015 is already packed and if Remedy needs more time to make sure the game is excellent, then so be it.

        Xbox One

There is a thread for pretty much every single game of course the console features are going to get talked about in here more than actual gaming.

Did you really base your decision on buying a console on what is being talked about on the Internet? Kind of silly imo. Makes no sense. I think I'm misunderstanding that part of your post though.

Has anyone else been experiencing an increased amount of controller disconnects, black screens, or lights that sometimes blink anywhere from 12-24 hours after shutdown? I love the one but this console has been frustrating to say the least..
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

I'm in the preview program and have no issues with controller disconnects. Controller firmware updated?

When does the black screen happen?

Part of this is the fact that it's the first 6 months of the year. Game releases are infrequent, and usually get talked about in their own threads...IMO it makes more sense to discuss Battlefield or The Order in their own threads, but that's just me.

Also, people sometimes post things about having issues with a feature, or voice not working well, so people here try and give help...

I can get the point that some people are overbearing a bit, but this is the place we should discuss Xbox One features and things like that, isn't it?

                  Ricky24 and Mestevo,

I am not in the preview program. Is there a way for me to get signed up or is it too late?

Black screen sometimes occurs at startup when i first turn on box. Only thing on screen is white xbox icon in the left corner.(happened again this AM)

Extended blinking light occurs atleast once a week it seems. I don't believe they are system updates because the last system update was 2/14 and I have had the extended blinking light 2-3 times since then.

What do you guys have for system settings? Ex:Instant on? hard drive off when console is off? Auto turn off after 1 or 6 hours? etc.

Warranty is good till November and been thinking about swapping...

So... the easy stuff hopefully fixes your issues.

                    - Try a hard reset? While it's on just hold the power button until it's been off for a few ticks.

                    - The xbox button in the upper left corner, is that from the xbox UI or is that your TV's indicator that you're on the input for the Xbox?

                    - I use the rest mode, not the all the way off mode, I think. That's not a setting I've touched in a long time.

                    - You can get invited to the preview program by anyone that's in it. You'll then get added in a batch at some point in the future after that. The preview program means greener builds that you are essentially soak testing/providing feedback, but I've rarely had any issues that a hard reset mentioned above didn't resolve. Some have been bothered enough by issues here and there that they've opted out.

What's the flashing light, is it on the console or another onscreen indicator? If the console is updating in some form (could be game patches or content downloading I think?) then I think the light on the fron pulses. That describe what you're seeing?

How is your Xbox hooked up, directly to TV or receiver, have broadcast TV going through it?

                    Good luck.

I've opted out, realized I wasn't testing new features enough and since my wife uses both systems (yay!) it wasn't worth the risks.

I do think that now that I've learned to kinda make the system "grab" the discs more that I don't have disc read issues, so might not be as risky, I don't know.

I've done this before and it worksmost of the time but the problem often reoccurs after some time

flashing lights is on the console itself. Sometimes it blinks for hours at a time and pressing the button on the console is unresponsive to the point I have to unplug it.

hooked up directly to tv. I have no cable just basic tv.
                        Good luck.

True but games can still be talked about but instead, games are secondary when it comes to Xbox One. For those looking to purchase an Xbox One and looking for the benefits of the console, it's sad that the games are last on the list. Granted, neither console has a great library but still, there has to be games that warrant being talked about.

As for my decision to buy an Xbox One, it has nothing to do with anyone or with what anyone says, good or bad. I'm buying it because I want to own all three eighth generation consoles. Currently, I have PS4. By April, I'll have Xbox One as well. There's some games that I definitely want to play on Xbox One even though majority of them are later this year and 2016 but at the same time, like PS4, I just want the console already so I know I have it and when there is a game I want to play for it, I know I can.

In regards to here, I would just like to see more conversations about the games and people's opinions of them. I know there's game topics in the other forum but the majority of those games are being talked about on PS4. I would like to see opinions for the Xbox One version of the third party games and it's exclusives.

Yes, this is the place to discuss all of that. And just to clarify, im not bashing anyone or anything. I just wish those who own an Xbox One would talk more about the games they own, are playing and are interested in buying. That's all. It's just sad that the games are barely discussed and secondary to Kinect, apps, multimedia stuff.

This is a console thread though and thus mostly it's the actual console and its features and workings discussed and debated. Most games have their own threads on here for discussion. And yes a lot of them contain PS4 talk but people also talk about the Xbox One a good bit of the time as well..

I bought my Xbox one for gaming. So I disagree with most of this. I just go to a certain game threads if I want to talk about gaming. I come to this thread to talk about console features. Most of the threads I go to have people talking about both consoles versions.

I bought mine because Forza is my favorite exclusive. The TV voice commands have been awesome, however, and I can't imagine going without them now.

I also vastly prefer the XBox 1 controller.
