Re: Xbox 720
This, a thousand times over. Although the market right now is entertainment system first, games later. Hopefully they also improve the build quality for the "720", as I've had four 360's RROD/E74 on me, with my slim happily chugging along.
The big question I have is what happens to arcade games and DLC from the 360 once the 720 starts chugging along and becomes the "new console"?Comment

No used games = No Purchase
I'll just still with past consoles and not buy a newer generation system.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
I think that's the intentions..they've complained about not profiting off of used titles and it takes away from developers dollars.
That's why a lot of companies make you pay to play online and stuff now, so if you get a used copy you have to profit someway.
I can see it happening...it will shut companies down on gaming though and hurt the economy. Gamestop, GameXchange, Hastings and others would hate it bad.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
Lol at not being able to play used games. They'd be dumb as hell for that, but as I think on it, I wouldn't even be surprised. They would put a LOT of people out of work though.PS: You guys are great.

I don't really care so much about playing used games. What hurts me is not being able to unload old games. That's what sucks.

I always thought it was only the used games that they hated. But a console only playing NEW games would even kill the RENTAL market, which seems like a terrible idea.
I'm already planning on probably sticking with just PS4/Vita next gen (possibly WiiU), but if this happens, then my decision just got a whole lot easier.Comment

Do companies make money off rentals? IE, places like gamefly; do developers still see a kickback from those situations?

And the developers just have new ones on the shelf collecting dust until they are either sent back or placed in the used section, because they couldn't sell new.
In the case they don't make a dime there either.Last edited by Behindshadows; 01-25-2012, 07:07 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
The only reason I don't see it happening:
Microsoft will likely have their system released before Sony.
There's no way Microsoft takes a chance at making a decision like that, leaving Sony open to allow used games on their new console.
I just don't see any sort of mutual agreement happening. There's too much competition.
edit: A few seconds after I posted, I got to thinking..
Are the consoles at the mercy of the game developers or is it the other way around ?Last edited by AUChase; 01-25-2012, 05:35 PM.Comment

Re: Xbox 720
How is microsoft going to enforce this? If they tie the game to an Xbox, then you wouldn't even be able to play the game on another Xbox. If you have 2 Xboxs in your house, you better pick which one you will be playing on or buy 2 copies.Comment
