    Not surprising...

Hopefully, at least most games can actually hit that target consistently next generation with better IQ and no tearing.

4GB in five years will still be decent on a console IMO. 512MB 6 years ago wasn't much and is laughable now but yet you look at games like Halo 4, Uncharted, Crysis 2 and they're pretty impressive.

Give me processing power, a powerful GPU and gaming RAM. More is always better but I just don't see it being utilized in a gaming console. Not right away at least.
One thing to keep in mind with the RAM amounts is that the system itself will probably use more than it does today. Kinect has overhead, Xbox Live has overhead, the Xbox Dashboard has overhead...

I think MS learned with the 360 that you can't take away tons of memory from devs, so want to make sure they have enough on the 720.

I want to see specs and info, but I'm probably day 1 here. I've decided to just live with 1 console next gen and Xbox 360 wins over PS3 for me.

I really really really need to go 1 main system this coming Gen..
I'll have the WiiU for my Nintendo fix (May dump my Zelda 3DS though) and need to go with just 1 main system.

I love MLB The Show but so far I'm really only leading towards the 720.
Still prefer the LIVE system and frankly have more "emotional" ties to XBOX than I've ever had with Sony systems.

I may even get a stand alone BR player and get rid of the PS3, just to remove the itch.

I keep saying the same thing, only 1 system come next gen. It just gets to be way too much trying to invest in multiple eco-systems since essentially they have roped us in. I know I breakdown when it comes to system launches but right now I want to wait, depending on how far apart these new consoles release from each other before deciding.

Many are worried about RROD, I am not since I believe MSFT has fixed that issue with the Slim. Some of us are worried about Sony doing a boneheaded move with price again, which I doubt they will. I see these new systems coming in at $399 and possibly $499. $399 I would consider, but if its $499, I'll probably wait it out unlike last time where I spent $700+ on PS3 and games or waited outside in the cold for 12 hours for a 360 on launch.

And surprisingly, I didn't get a Wii U on launch which is my first console in 12+ years I have not bought on launch.

I hope to what I can stick with what I am preaching.

This is exactly what I did and how I was thinking. I traded in my ps3 for the Wii U and will get a BR player for Xmas.

In the process of doing something similar, probably trade in/sell the PS3, replace w/ BD player. Guessing a Wii is worth little to nothing at this point... ours has been sitting in the garage going on 2 years. The seldom used 360 in the bedroom I'm giving to a friend who's sat out this gen along with 1yr of Live and Madden 13 to join 5 of us in an online CCM.

I'd even consider trading in the larger 360 Elite we have for a smaller model if it was reasonable to do.

I jumped on PS3 for Blu-Ray and held out for some time because we hadn't bought into HD yet. I still bought it earlier than I wanted because they phased out BC.

Once all that is done, I did ask for a Wii U for Xmas now that the 1st party titles I grew up with my actually be available on a quasi-respectable platform, but we'll see what my wife has up her sleeve.

Caring less about BC these days, I am interested to see what the competition will offer vs a system that will probably integrate pretty well with most people's PCs, phones and tablets. Not just Sony, but Nintendo too when they have to hit reset again in 5 years since this will probably become another decade long console cycle. MS has done so well with Live, tying it into Windows like they have and further iterating on the experience should pay huge dividends unless they fumble. The competition can't just copy that, they will have to differentiate via innovation.

I'm not selling the PS3 quite yet, but I'm just using it as a BR in the living room. We have a standalone in the bedroom for movies, but I could see myself selling the PS3 and getting trade in for it...

I feel more invested in the 360, so I'm going 720 for sure.

I'll have to consider selling the PS3 though, see what the Best Buy trade in values are and whatnot. I could maybe get a pretty good standalone and still have money left over.

The biggest complaint from developers more often than not as to why things can not be added, is RAM.

There is never enough of it. The MORE the better.

It is always the main bottleneck.

really debating which console to purchase when it finally comes out. I'm a sports gamer for the most part which means my main purchases (when it comes to games) Are the next installment of NBA 2k, MLB The Show and Madden. Toss in the new CoD Game and their are 4 total games that I purchase throughout the year. Since 3 of the 4 will be compatible on both systems I might just buy the PS4 because their is no MLB game on the upcoming Generation of consoles. Unless a New High Heat or MVP is announced I'll probably go with the PS4

I could say the same thing, but want to know what I'm getting into before making that kind of statement. For all we know MS will get caught trying to do too much too soon and release some beast of a system that comes with a tablet and is north of $800 for a couple years as it slowly fails... while Sony releases a safer 'PS3 +1' that successfully iterates and owns the market at a lower price point but significantly more powerful than the Wii U.

Sure, some things are more likely than others, and I'm obviously leaning MS myself as the synergy between other products already used daily in our house is something Sony likely can't duplicate... I just need to see what my options are.

No matter what happens, almost certainly have learned my lesson and will probably only own one until years into the next generation. MS is my preference, we'll see if they capitalize. Sony isn't, can they innovate enough to earn my business back? No idea, either way looking forward to how it plays out and neither of them can get here soon enough.

I'll own both at some point I'd imagine but MS will be first most likely. I'm quite happy with the way the systems are now but can't wait to see some specs on both.

MS has earned my business in multiple ways.

-First, I bought my first xbox 360 at launch and rocked that system around 5 years and had only 1 RROD. Then I picked up the Slim and have never had a issue. Same thing happened with my first PS3, guess what it YLOD and they won't fix it.

-The controller I like infinitely better and hope it does not change much.

-Online environment is much better in every way than PS3

-Party chat has to be in, considering how many of my friends live out of state or in different cities, so we "kick it" through party chats. Instead of all getting together at someones house and laughing cutting up, we just do it virtually in a "party".

-Better customer service in my opinion

-The most important factor though, I like the system better, the controller better, the online environment better, AND everyone I know has a 360 rather than a PS3.

A sub topic of why I'm not getting PS4 is I just don't have the time or the funds to have both systems.
