Re: Xbox One
Was wanting to hear more about Smartglass evolved (guarantee they call it that or something as bad at E3) today. If they announce it at E3 as able to play games from the One to your tablet or smartphone, that could put me over the top. Would be a huge failure in my mind if they do not as it could put them in the portable mix instantly without having to release any hardware.Comment

Re: Xbox One
They want to be a leader in the living room, but that's not what I'm interested in as a gamer. That is the only position I hold in this, is that XBox is gearing themselves towards the Farmville audiences.
Kinect being a necessity? Horrible.
Integration with Windows 8? What a ****ty operating system, and they know it - that's why they are backtracking with it.
All the other rumors that have hurt their stock? Yet to be seen.
If they came out and stated that they wanted their box to be a hub of entertainment while providing some gaming, that would be one thing. They are speaking out of both sides of their mouth though - you can't make things gamers don't care about a necessity and the focus of the system and then say "games are the focus." One of the two statements is a lie.
CLEARLY, gaming isn't the focus with this box otherwise all these features wouldn't be hyped to the moon.
EDIT:
The "XBox One" and PS4 have pretty much the same hardware. It equates out to being a middle of the road gaming PC. The consoles have to define themselves somehow.
Microsoft clearly went the entertainment hub road, Sony better focus on the games or they will fail as a console as well.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Xbox One
Update 3: Xbox Support's Twitter has announced that there won't be a fee to share games with friends.
When asked if one could lend a game to a mate without them paying for it, Xbox Support confirmed, "You will not have to pay a *fee*. I can confirm that those reports are wrong."
This suggests that the purported "fee" is really just a game sale that you could happen to attain through a friend's disc, but you could just as well borrow a game without purchasing indefinite access to it.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Xbox One
I can see that. I'm most likely sticking with the Gaming Master Race anyways, until I see something that grabs my eye that I can't play on PC.
It boils down to this: Uncharted, God of War, Metal Gear Solid (kinda sorta), MLB The Show, pretty much the JRPG genre, Gran Turismo, the Quantic Dream games (Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls) and other Naughty Dog games (The Last of Us)
vs.
Halo, Gears of War, Forza. I'm struggling to find any other exclusives here that might be worth playing to a large crowd. Can't count Fable as it's a PC game as well.
PSN > Xbox live as well.
I would have bought both systems, as I have in the past just in case, but making the Kinect a requirement made it a no-sale.
They could have kept it optional (while you lose all that "functionality") and I would have been there on day one to buy it. None of the other stuff interests me in a game console. As said before, I have other cheaper options for all that stuff.
Maybe the new PSN is better, but I always felt like Xbox Live was infinitely better than Sony's XMB and PSN.
I get more on sale for the PC anyways, so that could be why I like the entertainment aspects. I've lost control of my tv a lot of the times (to family), so that is interesting to me.
Not sure I can justify a black box that only does gaming, even if the exclusives are better than what MS has.
I'll have to monitor this though, you brought up good points. I also need to hear more about the TV integration. If it works with my Cox cable and I can change channels way easier then that could be too hard to pass up. Voice search vs. horrible remote based search on my cable box.
I hope people see I'm not a fanboy for Xbox. I think I'm more someone who doesn't have the dedicated gaming time anymore, so a pure "gaming only" console isn't as appealing as it was 5ish years ago.Last edited by mgoblue; 05-21-2013, 06:30 PM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Xbox One games will require a one-time activation code to use, but you'll still be able to trade and sell them online, Microsoft tells Kotaku—although we're not 100% clear on the details.
Speaking to us at the big event in Redmond today, Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison clarified a couple of details about the system's used game policy and explained that there will be a solution for people who want to trade games with their friends.
Here's how the system works: when you buy an Xbox One game, you'll get a unique code that you enter when you install that game. You'll have to connect to the Internet in order to authorize that code, and the code can only be used once. Once you use it, that game will then be linked to your Xbox Live account. "It sits on your harddrive and you have permission to play that game as long as you’d like," Harrison said.
Other users on the console will be able to play that game as well, Harrison said. So you don't need to buy multiple games per family. "With the built-in parental controls of the system it is shared amog the users of the device," he said.
But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison says.
"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."
"They would be paying the same price we paid, or less?" we asked.
"Let’s assume it’s a new game, so the answer is yes, it will be the same price," Harrison said.
But that doesn't mean used games are dead. In fact, Harrison told us, you'll be able to sell your Xbox One games online.
"We will have a solution—we’re not talking about it today—for you to be able to trade your previously-played games online," Harrison said.
The Xbox exec wouldn't give further details on how this system will work, but we're assuming that once you're done with a game, you can trade the code online and it will be erased from your machine. But what will you get? Other games? Microsoft Points?
No matter how the final system works, it is not likely to please GameStop, the world's biggest buyer and seller of used video games, but it could be a tantalizing way to share games with your friends in the virtual space.
so the only way i can play a game at my friends house is if he pays full ****ing price? thats idioticLast edited by woz411; 05-21-2013, 06:36 PM.Comment

I would take the word of the VP of MS over some dude working a desk support job for MS... no offense jmood88

But anyway, making people pay the full price of the game all the time would be an extremely stupid idea. There must be something missing from that explanation.Last edited by jmood88; 05-21-2013, 06:41 PM.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Re: Xbox One
I realize that, but Thats like me asking apple support about some new product and taking their answer as truth, I dont know why the artilce added that when MS support is as knowldgeable as normal consumer compared to knowldge of the VP of MS...
I would think if the VP of MS says we need to pay to play games at friends houses then its true, no matter what some person at support saysComment
