    Re: Xbox One

Speaking for myself, I liked what I heard today by-and-large. The idea of using the XBOX for an all-in-one entertainment hub is appealing to me.

Kinect is a novelty for me right now, but given that it is now an expected hardware component of every system I look forward to seeing what game developers can do with it to augment controller-based games. The idea of multitasking from a console, while not new by any means to PC users, is appealing to me as well.

The software library will affect whether I purchase an XBOX One on day one (particularly the sports titles, I want to see more than an EA Sports trailer which was quite obviously CGI, and I want to know what Forza 5 has besides jaw-dropping graphics), but so far, so good.

Can't wait til E3 to see what gaming lineup is in store. Full HDMI Pass-Through is a win. I'm guessing this means full HD Sound Codec support. Blu Ray drive

The size isn't a huge deal for me. I brought the 1st HD DVD Player which was just as big (still have it)

I actually like the TV functionality. The Guide is something I can definitely get use to.

15 exclusives in the 1st year is a HUGE Commitment from Microsoft. I really wonder if they can pull it off.

I think this is where I'm at as well. PS4 would have to slay me with games or adding something to get me. PS Move does nothing for me compared to the MS stuff. It is possible though...games do matter.

            Re: Xbox One

After 12 consoles (6 each original and 360...one with Kinect) and 7 years or more as a live gold member, my family will not be buying this console.

1-I already have a Kinect no one in my house uses. I don't want another simply to watch me.
2-Multiplayer is still a paid subscription where I think it should be free and the other crap paid
3-I can't even give a game away unless I give the console away with it...what is the world coming to when you can't even give a bad game away.
4-No backwards compatibility how am I expected to store this behemoth next to it's "replacement"

E3 better be damn impressive, or I might be out of the gaming hobby after 35 years. I'm actually in shock. right now...I must be going through the first stage or grief.

I would take the word of the VP of MS over some dude working a desk support job for MS... no offense jmood88

so the only way i can play a game at my friends house is if he pays full ****ing price? thats idiotic
MS is just killing themselves today.

Here's how the system works: when you buy an Xbox One game, you'll get a unique code that you enter when you install that game. You'll have to connect to the Internet in order to authorize that code, and the code can only be used once. Once you use it, that game will then be linked to your Xbox Live account. "It sits on your harddrive and you have permission to play that game as long as you’d like," Harrison said.
Fee for used game, and now this?

I feel so old knowing taking games to a friends house may cost a fee and yet I could care less as I game online only with friends.

We'll see how this all pans out after we get past all the hyperbole....

I think it was a terrible decision for them to make the Kinect mandatory, I dont know if it's ready for prime time. First off its a separate component which is inevitability going to cause trouble.... fiddling around with it trying to get it in the right position and it could get moved or even damaged. But the question is, is this thing ready for prime time? Will the voice command understand different accents without people having to repeat them over and over and are people willing to learn gestures and how accurate do they have to be? When I think of Kinect I think of Google Voice and Siri, promising technologies but not quite their yet. But maybe the Kinect is their. And this always on has be worried also, because I worked at a cable company before, and those cable boxes go out all the time, I wonder what kind of warranty it will come with.

Yeah, I can't think of the last time I took a game to someone's house. I think my niece did bring a game over last time she stayed at our place, but that's it.

You make a great point about the hyperbole. I am (and a lot of the internet is as well) the type of person to get angry about something "on principle". Honestly, 99% of the time I'll have internet. I do like selling games, but we'll see what their trade in system is.

Plus you gotta know Sony will be doing the same thing. Probably detailed at E3 or something. Publishers everywhere hate used games.

I don't think there's a single thing MS can show off at E3 that would outweigh all the negatives to me. I don't care about kinect, voice commands, or tv box features. I don't want to pay to play online anymore. I don't want to lose the benefits of used games or rentals.

I already sold all my 360 stuff a few weeks ago to get maximum value out of it before everyone starts selling them or a price drop on current bundles hits. I may just have to just enjoy my collection (backlog) of games going back to the NES and buy other old games like an old man still listening to his 1950's jazz records.

I really think some people are missing the point of what today was. It was about revealing the console, correct? E3 is for the games. I think Microsoft even mentioned this. What the hell is wrong with the ONE giving us the all in one entertainment hub AND great next gen games??? Yea yea yea, i know, no games were shown. Again, E3 is right around the corner. Hell we haven't even seen a PS4 console yet.

Well I guess it was inevitable that they killed used games sales. Blah. This is a sad day. I assume the playstation is doing the same.

I knew EA was up to something with dropping online passes.

I don't understand this logic. You haven't even used the first 3 features to the level in which they are being unveiled at the press conference. How do you know you won't care? It hasn't been confirmed how used games will be utilized on the ONE. It baffles me how people are so up in arms over having additional features outside of just a videogame system. Buy a wii for crying out loud. The games are coming and aside from the exclusives, they are the exact same games as the PS4 with many additional entertainment features
