I really hope that's not the case. That would be a nightmare.

I guess the concern is if your internet connection goes out. I believe I read you only need to be connected once per 24 hours in order to play. Could be wrong.

But not everyone has internet. Or has his or her console connected to the internet. More than you'd think.

There are a couple people who say that they travel but most of the complaints about that really just seem to be from people upset on principle instead of an online check every 24 hours actually affecting their typical experience.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

I can understand the people that travel all the time, I can see that. But IMO it seems the complaints are the fact that it's required at all.

I guess I see both sides, but I also know you can't please everyone...

It is what it is... If you don't like that part of it, I guess the decision is already made then.

DRM, probably. Either way, it doesn't change my point about the complaints being on principle, though. Do you only connect your console at the moment you're about to play an online game?

It's the trade off for never having to put the disc back in the console again, being able to delete and redownload the game you bought from retail, etc, etc. As long as it remains that benign I'm in.

That's the part I forgot about. They'll be letting people do what people wanted as soon as they let everyone install games: have all the games installed on the hard drive and available to play at any time.

I install ALL my games and my system is always connected to the internet (wired or wireless) so this makes no difference to me.

I'd first assumed that it was because they had to register the game to your gamertag after it installed so that you could take it on the go, but I'm not sure why now that it has to be done once a day.

However, this doesn't matter to me. I'm a college student living in an apartment complex sponsored by my school and my Internet hasn't gone out here for more than a half hour in the 2 years I've been here so I'm willing to bet I'll be fine. I'm interested in something I've been thinking about and maybe if it were true. Since the Xbox is basically always on standby so that it can give updates after you've turned your console off, what if your system does the online check in thing as soon as it hits midnight every night, and just keeps trying until it connects. That way, it wouldn't necessarily have to be when you want to play the game, it could happen without you having to worry about it.

So when you buy the game, you can download it to the hard drive of xbox one and you won't need to put the disc in to play it ?

I still think Bungie's Destiny doesn't bode well for those who are anti-always-on for both consoles.
