Re: Xbox One
You said they have labeled those without internet as unimportant and whether or not that stance is right or wrong is a matter of opinion.
I'm curious what that opinion could be? How could anyone tell someone they aren't important simply because they don't have an internet connection?
Don't take it as an attack on you, I"m just genuinely curious to see the other side of that argument.Comment

Latest used games rumor is that stores can sell games for whatever they want, MS and the publisher get a percentage instead of a predetermined fee.

Ok, I got you. I guess I'm looking at this as a presidential election. The candidates go to the states where they have a chance of winning or a chance of swaying the voters. Obama isn't going to go to a 90% red state 5 times leading up to an election because it would be a waste of time.
That seems to be how MS is approaching this gen. They (and I'm no business expert, but I'm pretty sure they have one or two over there) seem to be content with cutting out people without Internet because it likely won't affect their sales to a very high degree. Same with people overseas. MS is not marketing their console to people in Ireland with no Internet. They're marketing it to Americans with stable Internet and money to spend on the services that will be offered to them. And I guess they've crunched the numbers and decided that it would be more profitable to conquer that market and dominate in the States. They don't make money off of people who don't pay for Xbox Live, buy games on the marketplace, and they can't advertise to people without a connection to make more revenue. So they seem to be cutting them out entirely.
That's what I meant by opinion. I worded it poorly, I didn't mean they don't matter in the grand scheme of things, moreso that MS doesn't care about them.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: Xbox One
I would say that after the whole always online debating earlier, and letting go of a M$ employee for spilling the beans so to speak before they made mention, they knew alot of people wouldn't be happy with this but they have their path set already. Im not surprised it wasn't addressed in many ways and there are a ton of questions out there.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Well I currently have my $ collection started.
Plan is to get both at launch. Only way that changes is if 1 or the other has some issues I don't see me liking.
Always on I could care less about. Mainly looking at how the used game stuff pans out.Joshua:

Re: Xbox One
According to retailers in the U.K., all used games will have a hefty activation fee built into the price, meaning the cost of used games will rise, while the profits of used game retailers will plummet.

Re: Xbox One
Thought this was interesting...went over to my parents yesterday and my father who has only played games a few times with my niece, literally only got on computers last year asked me have I seen the new Xbox coming out. Said he saw all the things it could do and loved it and wouldn't mind having one. As of right now 3 of my friends and myself are probably getting the Xbox at launch....hoping some of the used games stuff changes or isn't totally true but oh well. If MS is reaching people like my father then that's a good thing, the problem they have to figure is what are the chances they pick up enough of those people and will it cover the gamers they may loose. I personally don't think so but we'll see after E3 when more concrete info comes out and if it changes the mind of the masses...can't wait for it.-= Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.=- Edward MurphyComment

I've started my collection as well but I'm not getting both at launch. I'm thinking that's going to be around 1k for just systems and no games and no extra controllers.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Had a similar experience with my parents, they're talking about considering it for the media stuff alone when the price is right. They'd be replacing a slow BD player and would never have to switch inputs again which is one of the reasons they use it/streaming stuff so infrequently.

Say this console comes out and sells a decent amount - but 50-75% of those sales are those who have no real interest in buying/playing video games.
What then for MS? Will the devs jump ship more (I'm sure some smaller ones would) to PS4?
I guess I wish I could see into the future to see how this plays out for MS if they most interest they generate are from those who don't use their video game console to play video games.badComment

Re: Xbox One
Which brings up another point. I have no doubt this console has a decent public interest - but obviously the gamers are in the PS4 camp.

I think MS thinks they will keep their current group of gamers and add another group of users entirely. Maybe it works out.Comment

Re: Xbox One
This is what it keeps coming down to for me. There will plenty of info released between now and the time the console actually comes out. Journalism now a days is suspect at best when the facts are out, never mind when people start making assumptions. Regardless I still don't see how Microsoft is is abandoning the "gamers." No matter what Xbox and PS4 will still share 90+% of all the games.Comment
