If they allow this for everyone, then you could just put your XboxONE in offline mode or what ever and play as many used games as you want offline and even give them to your friends so they can play offline as well, that's my guess.
Brainstorm with me, how could they allow this in certain situations and not all situations? Unless they have no internet versions of the XboxONE, that's the only way I can think.

My reaction? Oh well, guess I am PC only. Maybe down the line I pick up a cheap PS4 and some of the exclusives from the likes of Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream, but beyond that I'd be OK as a PC only guy.

Also, if sony follows suit, this is all they will be doing:

The only way ill get the xbox 1 is if sony does the same thing. If not then microsoft pretty much killed the xbox brand.

My Brother-in-law is currently in Afghanistan and I told him about the online stuff. He just said WTF!! Some places get internet and some don't or are unable to keep the connection to the systems all the time.

I really hope PS4 doesn't have the online restrictions. These guys deserve to be able to play over there.

Yeah if Microsoft does their own video game rental system then the while no used games thing won't matter to me. Just waiting until some E3 info to clarify done things. I will say however some people seem to be like, "Zomg the kinetic is watching me do my bills, got my credit card and stole my identity, hates you Microsoft" I'm sorry but its laughable.

I understand the always online thing and buying licenses complaining but the camera complaints blows my mind.

Also I was thinking, what if they include the stuff in Gold? Like for example gold would allow access to the renting games and such while silver would not. Remember we haven't heard much talk about a subscription plan yet.

There is just no reason for Microsoft to dev a first party rental service. I can only imagine the price point for a Microsoft run rental service for gamers. Publishers would not be excited about that either mind you, meaning they would heavily influence the price points since they would demand a massive chunk of that revenue.

They are doing this to kill rental services and the like. They want you to buy full retail, on their terms.

I'm agreeing that all this is Microsoft fail. I want to see if they recover at all at E3.

One question though, how is what MS is doing any different than Steam on PC? Just wondering...

I'd imagine you would get a 5-day trial downloaded to your system for $5 or $6 which wouldn't be bad at all (to me anyways). I'd also imagine that publishers would get a percentage of that charge. It would be excellent if, after your trial runs out, you could buy the full game by paying off the rest of the price -- so if a full game is $60, you only have to pay another $54 or $55 to keep it.

We'll see in a few days hopefully.

Doubt they will, but there will probably be something based on them saying they were exploring possibilities with their partners. My guess is that once again they will put it in the hands of the publishers, just like the used games.

Pricing is honestly a huge part of it. IF Microsoft and the publishers of these games could have huge sales like Steam, I don't think as many people would be mad (seeing as most don't want to deal with Gamestop anyway), but, they more than likely won't. Also, the 24 hour checks are something Steam doesn't have. You can play offline until you need an update for Steam I believe.

I just think that what MS is doing is trying to usher in the age of digital sooner (which is coming no matter what). It is more restrictive, and people are complaining.

I'd just prep for eventually everything to be digital. This isn't going away.
