Its all about their bottom line.

Don't do something like this intentionally then talk to people like they're stupid... its a bad precedence being set here.
I agree with what you are saying. My point is that I can't believe how they are handling this. I work for a marketing company and I can't help but wonder what they are thinking from a business standpoint. Some of my avid xbox friends are texting me and vowing to never play the xbox 1 and the system isn't even out yet.

I'm buying an xbox 1 no matter what but I'm just in awe at how this has been handled.

Well they are trying to backtrack and tap dance around some issues and avoiding others altogether, but im still not so sure alot of people saying they wont get it will just pass it by

          Re: Xbox One

I think I'm ok with this.

My connection is rock solid at my house because they had trouble with the Whole Home DVR so they got an amazing signal to make sure it wasn't that problem (it was the DVR boxes).

I much prefer being able to install a game and play it without the disc whenever I want. I'll take the 24 hour online check in for that.

Kinect "snooping" issues weren't bugging me anyways, IMO that's tin foil hat land.

Used games I feel is going that route anyways, and I'm good with the Steam type market as it is. I'd rather they go further so we get Steam style sales on console once games have been out a bit.

Personally I'd rather have a few negatives to get the great aspects of the entertainment aspects of Xbox One.

Plus so far Sony hasn't showed me anything new. It's just a mystery box that only plays games. I need more than that nowadays. I'm not the mid 20's single gamer anymore. I'm married and starting a family soon. I'm not "just a gamer". MS gives us games and other stuff. Sony's just giving games apparently.

I want to hear what Sony's delivering though...maybe they'll add stuff they're keeping secret? They have to offer some cool stuff to make me become "just a gamer" though.

If it's that much of an issue continue using your 360. MS has already said they are going to continue to support post X1 launch.

This idea that MS wants to watch everything you do & are taking away our rights as gamers is a little extreme IMHO.

Do we not have games that Mandate you sign into your profile in order to play it?

So whats the difference with what MS announced. I mean really am I missing something?

              Re: Xbox One

Every single feature of the Xbox One is a restriction. How anyone can be excited for this console is beyond me.

One of their features in their "relax internets" statement is you being able to share your games with your family in your house. What a revolutionary concept. Thank you Microsoft. EA has taught them oh so well.

I think its hilarious that this whole thing is to combat used sales and Piracy like this is the reason why they arent selling their games. Wont this no resell thing force gamers into being MORE stingy with their money since they cant get rid of ****ty games?

You will be thinking that until your internet provider is having "technical difficulties" and you cannot play your games.

Also your used game idea, consoles will never get the "steam" style sales. Not anytime soon anyways, Microsoft is actually wanting to RAISE prices on used games.

Last but not least, you do realize, Sony's system can play blu ray, DVD, Watch netflix, etc. It's not just for games, but it is a GAMING console geared for gamers. Xbox is trying to make it geared toward more of a general public which in a console war, I think is a bad idea. I have a smart TV remote that can switch the cable and back to console just as fast as what Microsoft claims the xbone is for. I just do not understand why I would spend hundreds of dollars for an entertainment device that does stuff I can already do, I want to drop hundreds to play games (which Sony has the edge on gaming so far)

I am not a Sony guy, I had a 360 for years. Your arguments just aren't making sense.

If you're refering to my post I was just having a little fun with trying to find a way to spin their message into something positive. Usually when you present a change to your user/customer base you put and emphysis on how it benifits them.

Sony may have the same restrictions as MS yet they are seen in a positive light because they've been cautious. It's the difference between working with a scalple and a sledgehammer.

This is exactly what I'm going to do. There is no reason to give my XBox360 up. It will still have LIVE, produce terrific graphics, and I don't need Kinect. Why go through the nonsense when the current system is supported and does the job.

Question. Does anyone know if 360 games will be held to the same DRM restrictions?

I understand debating the restrictions, so can see why that can turn you off.

Other than that, why does the Xbox One offering you more entertainment stuff become a bad thing? I can understand why you may not use it, but I guess I prefer a company that is trying to innovate vs. being stagnant.

A PS4 is the same as a PS3 from what you say, just with better specs.

IMO the Xbox One is trying to go into new areas, and getting heat for it, but for now the new features are interesting to me.

I like being able to install my games and not have to worry about finding the disc whenever I want to play it. I can be on the couch playing one game and switch to another without having to dig that game out of my drawer or closet (I don't have games displayed in the open at home).

I also think that the Xbox One is something my wife could actually learn to use, whereas the PS3 is horrible for intuitive use by someone who ISN'T a gamer.

I see both sides. I guess I just see that PS4 is a "gamer's" machine and I'm not just purely a gamer anymore. I've changed as I've gotten older. When I was 25, single, and playing on XBL until 3am every night I'd love the PS4 I think.

Let's see E3 though. I want to compare new XBL and new PSN, along with hearing if Sony's doing anything for the casual type gamer or not.

Honestly, my PC has taken up my gaming, so I could possibly skip both of these if they're not good enough. I don't game on my "main tv" as much now, so that's why I wouldn't need a "gamer's" device....

What "new" things are MS doing that they're getting heat over? They're implementing existing policies with a much more draconian approach. I don't see either system as being overtly innovated personally.

                            Re: Xbox One

Question : Will Xbox 1 provide cable service for you? Because let's face it, it's not doing more than what the PS4 and your Comcast Xfinity/SmartTV or X1 Platform can/will provide. It's basically a button click to change inputs as opposed to some gesture or speaking. SO this talk that it's more than a gaming machine is a little overblown, because outside of a gaming machine it's nothing more than what you already pay for and will have to pay for anyways! ('Mindy Kaling Cute' X1 commercials anyone?)

Xbox just seems to be a money grab to pay for what is already there, and I think GAMERS that claiming they're no longer just gamers anymore are sadly mistaken that the family or wife is going to really learn and take to this new form of gesturing to the TV or speaking to a camera that is always plugged in, in your leaving room. That's just wishful thinking and far away from 75% of reality of the situation. Explain the "TV watching features" and "gesturing" and everything about the Xbox and watch their reaction - It's not that cool to most people on this board much less the fam .

Just bad decisions overall imo with the direction taken and most importantly HOW they're taking it. And a question to a lot of the xbox fans here that keep posting "I have to wait to see what Playstation's approach is on drm, online, etc. etc.". What answer that hasn't already been given is really going to change your mind ? I'm curious because right now without explaining what PS4 could do to change your mind, it just comes off as an empty statement to try and seem "objective" .
