Re: Xbox One
Despite getting both consoles, I usually have a preference as to which I use for my 3rd party games. I'm kind of excited to see which console wins me over first, like the Xbox 360 did this generation.
Honestly, I'm really excited about the recording aspects and social interaction, as there's nothing better than being able to game with friends. My buddies and I have been calling for a way to be able to watch each other's screen as we play a game (particularly for Madden/NCAA), so I'm hoping we see something along those lines.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: Xbox One
It may not end up being as cool as I think, but the entertainment options are pretty nice. I know I can use Netflix and other things elsewhere, but the experience isn't as fast, quality, or easy as Xbox One is offering.
I know 99% of the people here only want a system that plays COD, but I'm in the minority of liking these features.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
It'll go both ways. I personally think saying "Xbox On" and having it control my tv and everything is pretty cool. A better cable guide via Xbox will be cool (I want to hear more about how they'll integrate this)...

I also like that i could be watching a sporting event (or reg tv) and gaming at the same time. Say its halftime of an NBA Finals game, no more guessing when the 3rd qtr resumes. I can have it up on my screen as i play a game. It's little stuff like this that i find neat and interesting.Comment

My TVs built in Netflix/MLB.tv work better than any of the game consoles for me (and I also don't have to sit through a minute of no-definition like I do on the consoles). I don't want to talk to my TV. I don't want to wave my arms in the air/dance like an idiot while playing a game.
I'd also like to kick CoD off the face of the planet.
It's the same thing with the Oculus Rift. I think the tech is amazing and I am keeping up with/supporting the every day goings on even though it's something that I have zero interest in purchasing/using in this day and age.
The beauty in video gaming has always been about the options. Don't like CoD? Play Battlefield. Don't like Battlefield? Play Counter-Strike. Don't like Sony? Buy Microsoft. Don't like MS? Buy Nintendo.
Microsoft is taking options away and telling us we have to have something we (speaking for myself and the people that feel like me, of course) don't want to use.
I have nothing against the Kinect. It's technologically leaps and bounds ahead of the last one. It just isn't something you should force on someone if they don't want to use it. I've already stated plenty of times (even when they were still planning on enforcing their stupid DRM) if they made the Kinect optional I would buy the system. Even if I'm still paying $500 for the bundle. Let me take my Kinect out of the box, smash it into a gazillion little pieces and enjoy playing the couple MS Exclusives that I did enjoy playing.badComment

Re: Xbox One
Great sarcasm from Joe. Cool vid and arguments on why it wasnt the "whiners" who cost us "advancement and the future of gaming".

Re: Xbox One
I'm staunchly against the Kinect being mandatory. I think it's cool what they are doing with the tech, but for me to ever even consider using it once it would have to be optional.

I also get why they required it though...imagine how many devs will completely ignore PS Eye and Move because it's not required...Completely useless techNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Xbox One
I highly, highly, HIGHLY doubt there will be a good Kinect/PSEye game that ever comes out that isn't a gimmick.
You say the PSEye is useless because there it's not required, meaning the install base won't be there meaning games won't be pushed for it. I agree.
I say the Kinect and PSEye are useless because motion controls and everything else that comes along with these types of machines detract from the overall quality and experience of video gaming.
Edit: Forgot to add this. I'm not saying MS should remove the Kinect from the bundle. They'd still know every XBone sold comes with a Kinect meaning the install base is there. If a dev truly said "You know what, I will build this killer game around the Kinect" they will know that the number of Kinects out there is equal to the number of XBone's out there. If their game was truly something worth playing, the people that don't normally use their Kinect's would plug them in to play it if they were interested.Last edited by ubernoob; 06-20-2013, 07:31 PM.badComment

Re: Xbox One
They could make a new system w/o the kinect. More options is always good for the consumer. Especially given the price point. I didn't buy a Kinect for almost 5 years after owning my 360, why? B/c I though it was useless and for the most part still is imo. The difference in owning one now is I have children ages 2, 6, and 9 and they like just dance and sesame street. It really should be an add on though. When I'm not using a kinect game on my 360 I disconnect it. With the xbox one I guess i'll cover it with tape if there is no way to turn it off.Comment

They made it so you need the Kinect always attached and it will be always on for the controllers. No Kinect, no controllers, no system on.
How ironic the controller sensor is in the Kinect.
All this tech sounds cool, until the message pops up, "we are watching you".Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: Xbox One
yeah I don't see why we need the Kinect if you can control all the functions with you Xbox controller and even a universal remote.Comment
