    Re: Xbox One

Think i'm going digital with the One, as long as I can resale games and get a little something for them i'm happy. I don't sale games on Craigs List or Ebay so wouldn't be a problem for me. I also don't keep games long, my library if very limited to games i'm playing at the moment. I may keep fighting games a bit longer but other than that I get rid of them.

Btw have they said anything for sure about getting money for games?

Ryse looks awful to me. Opponents just stand there waiting for your approach and eagerly accept your assault. During team finishing moves the ai can't interrupt it? That is next generation?

Yes, it was originally supposed to be a kinect game for the 360 that they switched to two button action game for the 360 because they couldn't figure out how to make it fun while using kinect, which is a bad sign. They eventually decided to move it to the xbox one instead.

Self-publishing coming to Xbox One; won't be fully in place at launch.
"Our priority is ensuring our customers get the best Xbox One experience the first day it is available." --> Kinect will only work fully in 5 countries out of the 13 launch countries.
Xbox One will be available in 21 countries for Launch -> Xbox One will launch in only 13 countries
External Harddrive is supported --> External Harddrive support won't be ready at Launch
Xbox One pre-orders in Europe Tier 1 countries receive FIFA 2014 for free --> Wait, we mean it's only for Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders (which were already sold out).
Pre-loading not ready for Launch; Will Come Later
Xbox One will not work as a Windows Media Center Extender

It seems like Microsoft was caught really off guard by Sony's announcement in February or the DRM change really screwed up their plans, because it sort of gives the impression that they weren't ready to launch the console just yet with all these incomplete features.

Yeah, I think everything but the first one they were really caught off-guard with. The first one I think they were going to launch without that for the most part anyway. Sony getting "beat" so early last gen helped them out with this one. Spent more time developing because of it, and now will have a smoother transition I'd say.

Also, I've somewhat fallen out of love with Ryse because of the AI. It's a shame too because I think that besides Forza, it's the best looking (visually) Xbox One game. Also, it's a time period not explored as much on consoles.

Dead Rising 3 PAX Cam Footage

Game looks pretty fun. Almost like State of Decay on meth. It looks like the devs took everything that sucked about DR2 and fixed it.
                  • Controls look a lot more snappy.
                  • Guns are actually decent weapons to use.
                  • Can call in survivors to fight alongside you.
                  • Can issue voice commands to survivors. (Although, I greatly dislike the fact that the kinect picks up sounds from the room and the zombies react to the noise level in your house)
                  • Can combine weapons/food on the fly instead of being forced into finding a workbench.
                  • Can use smartglass to call in items/strikes/survivors on the fly.
                  • No more loading screens.
                  • The game still has those funny elements and is not all super serious like the first trailer made it seem like.

Dead Rising looks great, better than it did at E3 and Gamescom even. It'll be a holiday game for me though, I'll have enough to play with next gen, GTA and WWE.

Launch for me will be Battlefield 4, Forza LE, Madden, Watch Dogs, and a NBA game. Will get Killer Instinct and Lego Marvel digitally.

                        Re: Xbox One

Stephen Elop taking over the xbox division could be very bad. Let's all hope he doesn't run it into the ground like he did with Nokia.

“Ok. Now its pretty well established in several news sources, that Nokia tried to get Microsoft to buy the company last year, but Microsoft decided against it,” Tomi Ahonen writes for Communities Dominate Brands. “That gives fresh insights and ‘clues’ to what might have been driving Elop to such unprecedented madness from this infamous Burning Platforms memo – the costliest management memo of all time – to the ludicrious decisions about announcing the end of Symbian with no Windows Phone smartphones even to show, far less to sell; to the infuriating decisions to not support Nokia’s own-developed and truly excellent products from the N9 on MeeGo to 808 Pureview on Symbian, to not even releasing the N950 on MeeGo to the baffling decision on suddeinly terminating Meltemi mere weeks before phones were ready to be shown.”

“Elop is the worst CEO of all time,” Ahonen writes, “he has personally caused the biggest corporate downfall in the Global Fortune 500 history, after we eliminate management fraud and crimes. For management incompetence Elop is the benchmark. The worst CEO ever. We need not review all his damage, growing smartphone sales turned into history’s fastest collapse. Growing profitable handset business turned into fastest losses ever in this industry. Market share collapse – Nokia was twice as large in market share as the iPhone, four times as big as Samsung’s smartphones when Elop started – and grew more in 2010 than either rival – but now Nokia smartphones (on all of its platforms, combined) is one sixth the size of the iPhone and one tenth the size of Samsung’s smartphones. Nokia share price, Nokia brand value, Nokia loyalty, all destroyed in the past 2 years and four months.”

“I don’t mean that Nokia was ‘in great shape’ before Elop – I never said that, I was warning that Nokia had problems at the time – but Nokia was growing strongly, making strong – growing – profits, and towered over its rivals before the Elop Effect in February 2011. After Elop started to massacre the businesses of Nokia, its been sheer carnage,” Ahonen writes. “Now. Could there be a reason to the madness? What if we don’t examine this from the prism – what is best for Nokia and its shareholders. If we examine it from this angle ‘Elop promised to sell Nokia to Microsoft.’”

Who knows why he did that (inside knowledge?), I dunno.

Mr. Elop has been hacking costs out of Nokia in the three years since the Finnish company agreed to tether itself exclusively to Microsoft's Windows Phone smartphone system. But while Mr. Elop has promised that Nokia's operating expenditures for its phone business will be cut to half the 2010 levels by the end of this year, analysts say Nokia's phone sales have fallen even faster.

There are rumors he may be the new CEO of MS once Ballmer retires.... unfounded rumors.

I looked around and saw nothing. I don't even know why the Nokia thing relates to Xbox. All MS is doing is trying to get relevant with the smart phone industry.

I suppose the implication is that this guy will eventually move up to fill the top spot at MS.
