The PS3 and XBox 360 were released a year apart making your argument in this case irrelevant.

We have the specs (and also word of mouth from developers.) They will look similar for third-party games because that's a lowest common denominator type of development.

That's why they are letting PS3 owners pre-load GTA V so they can download the game before it comes out.

No my argument is very relative. If the one is weaker then it will be the console they develop multiplatform games for and port over to the stronger system just like they did for the 360 and ps3. It makes logical sense and it's time effective to work that way. That's why I said most games will look similar with exclusives being the better looking games.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

You said we have to wait before all the specs are out before someone declares the XBone inferior.

The PS4 has a better GPU. XBone has faster, but much lower bandwidth, RAM.

Everything that's come out about the systems so far points to the XBone being 10-20% "less powerful" than the PS4, but that is literally just buzzword/market babble that really means nothing in the real-world application of these things.

Multi-platform games will be just how we have them now. Some run better on the 360 while others run better on the PS4. The big name XBone exclusives will look gorgeous as will the PS4-exclusive games. Both will look better than cross-platform games if it's a good development team behind them.

I wish every site didn't turn this into a silly "XBone vs. PS4" championship nerd-fight. Having multiple consoles on the market is a good thing for consumers. I was vocally (and notably, in this thread) anti-XBone - not because I hate Microsoft (well... I do, but I hate them for Windows 8 and some idiots they have in their company - not for anything they do in the console market) but because I disagreed with the way they were taking the direction of their console. They've made the changes. Again, it's bittersweet for me. Part of me hates them for going back on their "vision" - the other half of me commends them for listening to the crowd... or the crowd's money at least.

I hope whatever console someone buys makes them happy. If all one plays is GTA and FPS games, I'm pretty sure the XBone is the console for them. Nothing wrong with that.

If specs truly mattered to people, everyone would be gaming on a self-built PC. Someone saying that the PS4 is more powerful than the 'Bone isn't a slight to MS. It's just saying that in theoretical land, the PS4 IS more powerful. That means next-to-nothing for end users.

Also, you can't compare this generation of consoles (in terms of development process) to last gen. The architecture is completely different, and they are both alike this go-round compared to last time.

            and honestly this means what??

The PS3 was not powerful and thus only first party games were able to take advantage of its power.

The "which system is stronger" is a weak argument. The focus should be on what these companies are looking to accomplish in video gaming.

How dumb will we look of we are sitting back with the "stronger" system and its vision and support doesn't parallel what we want in games?

                  IDK...

It doesn't seem so silly to developers who seem to be much more psyched to be developing on the 4 from what is out right now.

                  We'll see.

Well judging by how these consoles were presented and marketed that would mean PS4 is more about the gaming while Xbox focused on the entertainment.

Sony is sitting back and enjoying the benefits of MS taking a lead and trying to introduce what is inevitable. This notion that Sony is all about the games is BS. If that were the case they wouldn't have introduced all the peripherals like their version of kinect and trying to incorporate other non-gaming services.

The only thing Sony had going for them is how awful a job MS did with trying to introduce change. It's not like the PS4 is some "must have" system.

IMO Sony is all about the games. Their exclusives on PS3 prove that. Also their internal studios are far beyond what Microsoft has at the moment. Microsoft has been quite lacking in the twilight years of the 360 as far as exclusives go.

I agree. I've switched to PS3 for the exclusives (Uncharted, The Last of Us, MLB: the Show, MGS4, Infamous, etc.) and they are all incredible.. Though I will always like the 360 system and controller better..

Also a bonus for Sony for me is Playstation Plus.. the free games every month are pretty awesome. I'll be going with the PS4 this time around.

You have to take this picture with a grain of salt because it doesn't list "Console-Exclusives" (games that are on 360 and PC) but it shows what MS themselves have admitted about their post-2009 forays where their main focus is to get back all the casuals that Nintendo snatched from under their nose.
