Anyone planning on attending an Xbox One Tour event? I was going to go to one during the week, but they deleted that location from the map. Now, my only option is to go on a Saturday in a mall parking lot. I am not sure if I feel like waiting in line to play a race of Forza 5 or a match of Killer Instinct.

Also here's the newest tech article on the XB-1 from eurogamer.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...one-developers
So this article pretty much confirms the Kotaku rumor from a while back that said that 10% of the GPU is being reserved for the OS/Kinect/Snap (meaning that there are only 1.18tflops available for gaming). But with the usual Microsoft PR, it's being sold as a positive instead of a negative. Microsoft to unlock more GPU power for Xbox One developers (but this is from power that was already taken away from them in the first place).
Optimization happens all the time, but 10% is a rather large chunk of GPU to be dedicated to non-gaming functions, especially when it's already quite a bit below the competition in hardware specs. It's also their usual stick and carrot approach, the hope that in the future, the console will be better. Maybe. Buy now, play later. Just another thing to add to the list of features that aren't quite ready for launch, but will be coming sometime in the near future.
The funny thing is that it's Digital Foundry highlighting everything. They never took this into account with their "equivalent" PC tests. I used to enjoy DF, but they're now just a MS mouthpiece that doesn't even bother to check facts (well, mainly articles by Leadbetter). The previous article had a lot of problems with it as well and a few incorrect facts/assumptions. Kind of surprised that whoever is in charge at Eurogamer hasn't done something about this... they can read what's being said on the internet and even their own forums have people calling them out on stuff like this. Or maybe they just don't care anymore because these articles are getting them the clicks and page hits that they are undoubtedly after.
Microsoft needs to just shut up and let their games do the talking (I guess kind of like what Sony is doing - sometimes no news is good news). If they are that convinced of their platform, show us. Don't treat us like idiots. Show us why we should want to give them our money over (or in addition to) the competition, especially for those of us that are currently on the fence. We all know that they can do it. There's a ton of potential with the system and with what they are doing, but they have to prove it to us somehow. What they've shown us from the games so far are a good start and I'm really excited to try out DR3 and Forza, but I would consider articles like this one and the previous one to be "bad press" instead of something that would convince me to purchase the console.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Looks like the Xbox One Trucks just have Killer Instinct and Forza 5 available to play. The Xbox "Area One" events have all first party launch titles.Comment

Re: Xbox One
The question is, what haven't they done thus far to convince you to buy there system? You did mention let the games do the talking kind of like Sony is doing, really? If I'm not mistaken I believe the One has 9 First Party games at release that's more then Sony will have at release. Just making a point there.
So why am I buying a PS4 first:
1) Its $100 cheaper: I can buy a game and a extra controller with the extra money I would spend on getting the one.
2) The Show: The only first party game that I;m dying to get during the first 6 most of the console.
3)Xbox hasnt done enough to sell me on its other features: I havent seen enough about how the TV stuff works to make me want it at this point. After buying a Kinect and barely using it for the last few years, the Kinect related stuff doesnt excite me. There is nothing theyve shown that makes me wont to spend $100 more bucks.
4) The install base appears to be higher for the ps4: Based on the preorder stats, it looks like the Ps4 will sell more than the 1 this fall. That matters because a bigger install base equals more people potentially online. It also matters for sports game fans because roster makers at OS tend to make them for the most popular console first. I remember last launch, PS3 owners had to wait months for people to make rosters for games like NCAA because fewer people owned the console and the roster makers at that point had the more popular console (360).
5)From statements from people I trust, the PS4 is likely to be more powerful and easier to program. Since there are no 1st party games I care about, its likely that the 3rd party games will look better on the more powerful machine
I dont knock anyone who decides to go with the 1. Some people love the TV functions and Kinect. Others are used to the Xbox and dont want to switch/. I get all of that. I plan to buy a 1 around next fall or the first price drop or if they release a 1 party game I must have.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Hmm.
It has nothing to do with ****ty PR on Microsofts part, or the fact that most of the stuff the One announced doesn't interest them, or the fact that it's $100 cheaper.
