    Re: Xbox One

Just to back up Flight ive seen people selling XB1 with Kinect and 5 games on Craigslist for $350-$400
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

I believe you can still do everything with the controller, correct? (asking honestly - I don't know the answer to this).
No, you won'y be able to control the TV with the controller without the Kinect. The console sends info, like pause, changing channels, and volume to the Kinect, which then sends out ab IR blast to the appropriate device (TV, DVR, and AVR).

You can get IR cables and use the controller and guide and stuff to still control the TV, etc. Far from ideal obviously, but it's possible.

So forza horizons 2 is really fun. The skill streak stuff is awesome. I find myself focusing on that sometimes. Probably focus on it too much sometimes. Tried to get close to this one guy but got way too close.

I just saw you link a help article my team wrote in a useful context. I might have to throw a party.

Forza Horizon 2 uses kinect in a nice way by giving the gps a personal assistant feel where it interacts with your voice commands. It would be nice to see more of that.

Research and search function tells me that the XB1 can use external harddrives.

                (A) Does that mean any external harddrive on the market (both USB powered and AC outlet powered)? And I would simply plug the USB cable from the eternal harddrive to one of the USB ports on the XB1? Software update, etc. to make it work?

                Example???
                http://www.amazon.com/Book-USB-Hard-...=operasport-20

                (B) Downloading digital games takes bandwidth, can downloaded digital games from the external harddrive be transferred to a secondary external harddrive for backup purposes?

                (C) Do I need xbox live or whatever paid online membership is required to download digital games?

Dear Sony, ... wasn't going to get an XB1, but if the ability to do the above easily, I might have to make space for an XB1 and designate the PS4 to exclusives and a few random sports games. Still looking to upgrade my PS4 harddrive to a 2TB though.

Pretty sure C) is no. Otherwise that would be pretty dumb on MSFT's part.

You probably want to get a powered hard drive and one thats USB 3.0 and at least 7200 RPM...then you will actually be able to run games faster than the xbox one itself.

Need for speed rivals has that too. Was a great feature. Voice commands work great for racing games.

                      A) Only requirements to use an external hard drive for storage is that it must be a 3.0 drive and it is larger than 256GB. You can use a 2.0 drive to store movie files (avi, mp4, etc) and play them on the One, but not for game storage.

                      B) Yes, you can move or copy games and such to another drive for storage purposes, as long as it has been formatted by the One as storage.

                      C) You do not need a paid (Gold) subscription to purchase games from the Games store.

If you are considering to purchase an external HDD, I would take a look at this article to help determine what external drive is the best for your situation (size vs speed, 7200rpm vs 5400rpm, standard vs hybrid vs SSD, etc).

In an era where a single game occupies up to 50GB of storage space, the 500GB hard drives found in the new wave of game…

Yeah, it looks cool. I watched a YouTube video on it. I went to try it last night, but my kinect wasn't responding to anything. It actually doesn't even look like it's on. I'll have to troubleshoot that tonight.

If you buy the external drive that I mentioned in the PS4 thread, you can take out your old PS4 drive, and put it in the enclosure that the 1TB/2TB drive came in. You'll then have a new hard drive for the PS4 and an external drive for the One. That's what I'm running right now - 2TB internal for PS4 and the old 500GB PS4 hard drive is an external drive for my One. I believe some other guys on here did the same thing.

It's not deal breaking for me personally, but I just want to make sure you're aware of it. Regarding the Seagate external drive, once you take the 2.5" drive out of the Seagate enclosure, the warranty on the drive is gone.

Appreciate the responses. Appreciate the link, will look into it later today.

                              Clarification purposes.

                              (A) With a 3.0 external harddrive greater than 256gb (i.e. 500gb, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, etc), I will be able to store full fledged digital downloaded blockbuster NBA2k15, WWE2k15, PES2015, Forza games (for the sake of mathematics, 50gb each). I will also be able to transfer these 50gb digitally downloaded games to a second external harddrive for backup purposes to conserve future bandwidth.

                              (B) 3.0 Harddrives are more versatile than 2.0 harddrives because 3.0 external harddrives allows one to store full fledged retail games (NBA2k15, PES2015, Forza, Ryse, etc.) while 2.0 does not??? 2.0 only allows movie and music files for playback on the XB1???

                              Good stuff.

Best Buy has your suggested Seagate 2TB harddrive in stock available locally for in store pickup today, which makes things a whole lot easier. Don't have to wait for shipping from either Amazon or Newegg.

Your suggestion to use the original PS4 500gb harddrive for the XB1 definitely makes sense, but the only reason why I linked the WD 3TB external AC powered harddrive in this particular Xbox One thread was because I already have tons of the WD My Book 3TB harddrive.

I'm thinking about simply keeping the 500gb PS4 harddrive with the PS4 operating system loaded as is in case anything happens to the Seagate 2TB, so that I can swap out the Seagate and put the original 500gb back into the PS4 and run the PS4 in seconds (without having to reformat???) as long as the WD 3TB works flawlessly with the XB1.

All my WD 3TB harddrives are designated for Over the Air Television DVR purposes. I had someone build me a PC with 6 TV tuners specifically used for recording live TV programs (i.e. NFL, sports, Simpsons, The Good Wife, 2 Broke Girls, etc. when I'm not at home).
