    Re: Xbox One

    Sigh...

The real answer is that any notion how the Xbox One wasn't about gaming was marketing spin and it is spread by console warriors.

If Sony's only chance at superiority is selling so many consoles that publishers have no choice but to ignore the competition, then they lost. Publishers and devs are going to produce multi-platform games look, feel, and pay very similar on both the PS4 and XB1, just like last gen and the gen before that.

There will be a tiny niche of gamers that will pick each release apart and try to find the best version, but mostly, everyone will be equally pleased or displeased with their purchases. Because some console warriors of the PS4 variety are heavily invested in the power of their system of choice, they feel entitled to each game being superior in some way. But that doesn't actually help publishers maximize their sales.

The parity was always going to happen, as long as either console sells enough to be a viable platform. It is always the exclusives that help each console define its strengths.

Personally, it feels like sony favors ultra realistic graphics and style. Microsoft tends to emphasize gameplay. There are exception on both sides.

I'm plenty happy with my XB1 from a games point of view. Forza Horizon 2 is one of my all-time favorite racers, and I would put it on a short list for game of the year. I have more games than I have time to play, 250 friends on my friends list, and the console feels like a next gen console in so many ways.

I think some people get caught up in next gen being about pixels and frame rates. I think it is about how we play games and share our experiences. The activity feed and the way it shares our clips (and how we easily record them), as well as Twitch and Youtube integration hashed this even more social than last gen.

It's cool that people don't care for the TV integration and Kinect. But man, using voice to pause, and mute just feels like how devices like this should work. I'm starting to hate my other devices that lack it. Integrating Youtube, Netflix and Amazon Instant into the TV viewing experience in such a seamless manner is also next gen.

I'm glad PS4 owners love their consoles. I don't know why they feel the need to defend them in this thread, though.

It's no point in rationalizing a counterargument for an argument that is irrational to begin with. You're not in court, there's nothing gained by winning this debate. My cents...

Are you having fun and entertained? Regardless of console, that's what matters. My son and I love the Xbone, My other son loves his ps4.
        Enough said.

This. The Xbox One is the best selling Xbox ever, which is really great sales wise for it. Just so happens that the PS4 is killing it right now, but the Xbox One isn't in any danger or anything....

Yes but you can't say sales don't matter, they affect everything that companies do. If Xbox One had kicked the ps4s rear out of the gate we would never have seen a price drop for Chrismas for example.

That's the reason ppl talk about sales.

It's not always just fans trash talking like ppl in forums make it out to be when you hear the common refrain "I don't get why ppl are so wrapped up in sales.."

If you think sales discussion is only fanboy talk then you're not getting it was my point..

Wow completely different. The Saturn didn't have EA support and had other reasons why it failed. The Xbox thread has become the sales topic now. Apparently the Xbox one is doing really bad just like the sega Saturn did and is on the same path lol..

I can't wait to try out the dish sling app on the one. The only reason why I cut the cable before and came back was because of sports, but now sling comes with ESPN, TBS and TNT which is a start. Plus the local channels have the NFL. If this app is good like they're saying, I'm out..bye bye cable. Say what you want about the Xbox, but I'm glad they're adding so many apps and multimedia capabilities. It's one of the reasons why I'm always using it.

Obviously sales matter to the company selling the things. That's a given. I don't understand why the consumer cares if a console they own is selling better or worse than the other though. Unless like I said the console is not selling at all. Which is not the case.

That's a nice pivot, I would have gone with this the first time but instead you went with the Sega Saturn shot instead with completely different connotations.

The consoles are selling well, competition benefiting us all.

Yeah, local channels and NFL are the big things we have to solve. We need to get a clearer picture of our 'needs' and costs also. For example we'd almost certainly be getting the standalone HBO subscription if we cut the cord - at least while Game of Thrones is on anyways.

Not too interested in putting up an antenna, torrenting, etc.

Looking forward to the month-long trial though, for sure.

Yea same here. I'm not into the torrents or other stuff. I do have cable now but it's over priced and only really watch sports mainly for me. For $20 it's not bad if they keep adding channels. I'll try it out the free trial. I just wish they allowed us to pick 10-12 channels we want. I have a feeling that's in the future but no time soon.
