    Re: Xbox One

MS needs to rework the Kinect (yeah I know, dev work that isn't going to happen) to get their voice responsiveness more like our Amazon Echo when connected to the internet. Works so well and that product line just expanded today.

Remains to be seen. If Cortana takes over 'Kinect' then I'm all for it if it's cloud-based voice processing (with a satisfactory local one for offline use like what we have now).

Is Cortana better than Kinect is right now do you guys think? I've not used it that much to be honest, even though I've had Windows 10 for a long time.

I haven't had a need for it on my PC tbh. The option is nice, but the few times I've used it like our Amazon Echo it didn't respond as expected (setting an alarm, for example) so I rarely do.

Interesting. Can't imagine how this would work though.

Sounds similar to what Nintendo might end up doing with NX.

Do you guys realize how many parents would HATE this idea? They want to buy a game system and they are DONE. The only money after that is the occasional game for a birthday or such. They would not want to be upgrading the video card or memory or such.

So that's a large segment of the market that would NEVER embrace this idea.
I think you have a very good point. My kids are 7 and 5 and I got my 7-year old a Kindle for her birthday and she can handle it. The 5-year old can't read and he needs so much help with the Kindle. So for him we got a $25 Leapster explorer. No reading, no passwords, no nonsense. All I have to do is change the batteries and buy a game here or there.

The idea of a parent having to listen to my kid say the graphics card on a system needs updating sounds stupid. I think I'd hate it.

Personally as a gamer, I like the idea of upgrading the Xbox. As a parent, the idea sounds awful.

Don't see how it's any different than deciding to get your kid an Xbox one when they already have a 360. Kids have the same issue now if they want to play certain games.

My kids have been using kindles since they were about 2, thanks to Kindle Freetime. Great service.

Wish there was an easier way to discharge the ram or whatever. When I go to live tv after playing a game or something the sound is never synced. Even if I make sure every application or game is closed.

After a hard reboot and direct to live tv I have no issue. Sound is on point or close enough that I don't notice. Any tips?

I have what might be a really dumb question but what is mic monitoring?

I bought the Turtle Beach XO's a while back and they were really nice for the price, but one of the ear cups kept losing sound anytime I hit the cord against something. Anyway today I went out and bought the XO Stealth (which I know is the same but updated version the said headset). Only the stealth says it has mic monitoring....

Only thing is the both sound the exact same even when I speak. I literally notice no difference ....... I've tried them both back and fourth and still nothing. It's not big deal really but am I just missing the point of mic monitoring? Again probably a really dumb question

mic monitoring just means you can hear yourself in your headset, so you aren't screaming into the thing if you have the sound up loud.

I purchased a pair a couple weeks ago from Amazon and wish I would of just waited to buy the sevens.

The first pair the mic boom worked for a day and stopped picking up my voice completely after. Second pair the left cup volume dims in and out an doesn't compare to the quality of sound I get out of the right cup.

Turtle beaches has had a bunch of faulty shipments of this set. As for mic monitoring
on the first pair I could set when to hear my self, second pair not so much.

Microsoft is closing down Lionhead Studios and Press Play

Today, I have some difficult changes to announce that affect some of our Microsoft Studios teams and projects in the UK and Denmark. After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville. These have been tough decisions and we have not made them lightly, nor are they a reflection on these development teams – we are incredibly fortunate to have the talent, creativity and commitment of the people at these studios. The Lionhead Studios team has delighted millions of fans with the Fable series over the past decade. Press Play imbued the industry with a unique creative spirit behind games like Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Kalimba, which both captured passionate fans. These changes are taking effect as Microsoft Studios continues to focus its investment and development on the games and franchises that fans find most exciting and want to play.
