I knew someone would say that, my point is valid, they advertise these deals but they are in such limited supply that 99% of people are not going to get them.

That's what I mean by snookered. It's called bait and switch.

And yes I demanded an even exchange because following a policy blindly over using common sense is part of another, secondary problem.

If stores want to technically get by with not breaking the laws on bait and switch, and thats what many of them do on Black Friday, then I will use whatever recourse I have to hold them to it and if being persistent at the service desk is what it takes then that is fine. If everyone would hold stores more accountable in this fashion then maybe they would rethink this sort of Black Friday shenanigans.

Also, I was not, and never have been, a pain in the rear when dealing with customer service people in an instance such as this. In regards to what I say or how I act. I worked in customer service for years. I treat people with respect. I realize you get more results by being nice but persistent. And I am very persistent. I am willing to ask for what I believe is the application of common sense when it comes to things like this and will diligently go up the chain of command until someone realizes that this is not some sort of scam I am trying to pull but simply an application of good, common sense to keep a customer loyal to that store.

And sorry but exchanging an unopened copy of Madden on the Xbox 360 with a receipt, a copy that the store can easily re-sell for $59.99 without issue, for an unopened copy of Madden on the PS3 is not hurting Walmart and is not "scamming the system" or in any way, shape or form hurting Walmarts bottom line.

Do not expect me to pay an additional $30 to get the product in an exchange because you advertised a deal on the biggest shopping day of the year and only stocked 8 copies. I would hope you or any other consumer would see right through that nonsense.

I don't think you understand what a bait and switch is.

I also don't think you understand how retail stock works. Maybe you should write your attorney general about it though.

        Re: Xbox One

It's not that simple. Prices may never plummet to Steam levels, but they absolutely will drop significantly.

There is no incentive to compete with the secondary market because a used copy will always be cheaper than new, digital or not. So dropping prices on digital does not correlate into as many new sales as it should. It only decreases revenue.

Instead, publishers use digital to market to gamers willing to pay for convenience. Eliminate the secondary market, and the only way to increase sales is to drop prices and have sales. And with the revenue they lose to the secondary market now getting placed back into the primary market, they can charge less and still increase revenue.

And you can stick your condescension up your ***.

Yes, these companies will just drop prices out of the generosity of their large hearts. They don't want money after all, especially with you giving them an easy way to keep prices higher. They just want to be your friend. My bad.

            Re: Xbox One

It has nothing to do with being my friend. It has to do with increasing revenue. With a strong secondary market, dropping revenue on digital titles will not increase sales, just decrease revenue.

Once 100% of sales are in the primary market, the only way to increase revenue is to manage the prices of digital content. Right now digital content is purely for the gamers willing to spend more. Budget conscious gamers do not buy digital for the reasons people have been expressing.

But hey, I guess it is impossible to expect a proprietor of a walled garden to ever have large widespread sales to generate revenue. Right?

Take 2k17 as a example. On Xbox.com it will be $42 when at the store it's only $27

Just plain dumb not to make that choice. For me anyway

I was all about getting the psychical a few years back. But the last few years since I started doing digital and it's all I wanna get now. It's so much easier not having to get up and such

But on Black Friday I usually get a few games since the overall prices are better and I'd be taking my wife out there anyway

We are nearly 100% digital. No DVDs (or VHS!), CDs, or video games. We have nearly instant access to more than we could ever before, it's easier to organize, and crazy easier to always find what we are looking for.

And we are getting there with books. I read exclusively on my Kindle, including comics, and my wife is nearly exclusive to listening to audiobooks. But we have hundreds (thousands?) of books. They are on shelves everywhere, and many more in boxes in our basement..

My wife is resistant to giving up her collection. Having shelves of books to wander through is still something she loves. We just moved in April, and I did donate about 10 medium size moving boxes to the YMCA for for their book fair. I thought there was a chance we might store or give away all of them and stop trying to display so many. But that was her cut-off. Getting rid of those books would be like getting rid of your favorite pictures and paintings.

And I do keep several albums in square picture frames that I hang in my office. I'm not going to play The Stones or Fugazi on a turntable ever again, but those albums, among others the small slice I want to display.

But when I look at my TV and see how simple the set-up is, I never want to have to store games, movies, and CDs again.

Certain things I'll go psychical like if there is a cool collectors edition of something. I don't buy them often but for example I bought that Juggernaugh fridge for Black Ops 3

Looks really cool to me but for others it's just a hunk of plastic lol

I'd be more than happy to buy them digital if the prices matched others but some games are over $10 more than where you can get a psychical copy for. Doesn't make sense

That price difference might not mean much to some but to a lot of people it does. Get to stand in land for hours and fight crowds again this year lol
Why not just buy the games online and have them shipped to your house? Or do in store pickup? Best Buy gives you seven days to pick up so you can avoid going there on Black Friday. Majority of stores offer these options so you can avoid the really bad stores, the long lines and getting there at whatever time they open on Thursday.

I know majority will argue and disagree with me but even if discs become obsolete, digital prices will not decrease from $60 at launch. Sales are rare now and would be even more rare if there's no discs simply because there's no competition for your money. You either spend $60 on the game digitally or you simply don't buy it.

I don't see any publisher giving consumers any kind of discount or sale at all. This includes Sony, Microsoft, EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Bethesda, etc. All of these publishers want to give you less for more money. In the age of season passes, pre-order bonuses, micro-transactions, etc., does anyone truly believe that any of these publishers which all have investors are going to give the consumers a discount/cheaper price?

If anything, discs still existing is what's even getting PSN/XBLA to give you sales in the first place. Think about it, no competition, no refunds, no playable demos, etc. No publisher is going to give you a sale/cheaper price when you have no alternative to play the game. It will either be pay $60 to play the game or don't buy the game and thus, don't play. In the end, there's simply no incentive for any publisher to give you a sale/cheaper price when they know that you have no other options and most likely, would give in anyway.

EA Access pretty much dismantles the crux of your argument. Free full game trials, discounts on all games... your statement of opinion as facts continues.

Physical tends to have larger markdowns, absolutely, welcome to merchandising 101, but your rigid exclamations are wrong as usual.
