If I'm understanding your question correctly, no. They still have to make a base Xbox One version. It's identical to PS4 and PS4 Pro, and devs can use Scorpio's power how they want. It's just super-sampling is universal, and you won't be locked out of various resolution and performance modes because it's all handled at a system level.

What do you guys think of the Xbox One and Xbox One S' value from here until the end of the year? Will it remain consistent or will it fall due to the Scorpio?

I ask because I am likely going to trade in my Xbox One S or my older Xbox One and just wondering what you guys think the trade-in will look like and how close it will fall off the cliff (if it does) near the Scorpio launch.

      Thoughts?

Majority of the trade in values varies but the base Xbox One 500GB with the 3.5mm headphone jack trades in for $150 at GameStop while the white Xbox One Slim 500GB trades in for $160.

I would say the least you'll get is $100. The higher the price tag for Scorpio the higher the trade in values will be in my opinion. Have to wait and see. Always a chance, trade in values go higher once Scorpio pre-orders open and you put the trade in value towards the Scorpio.

If this system sells even 2 million units, and to me that seems like a big if based on how the Pro has sold and the possible $500 price point, what is the end game? This is an easier question to answer if Microsoft is making a profit on each console, but you'd almost have to expect them to be taking losses as most modern manufacturers have been doing the last couple generations. Also consider this probably isn't a huge net increase in their home installation base, as a good portion of the sales are individuals trading in older models of the same system.

I'm just trying to understand MS and Sony's line of thought in making these. To me the older "slim" versions of the systems made more sense as a mid-generation refresh, because they certainly cost less to produce and capitalized on lag purchasers with a lower price point. Now we seem to be going backwards with these systems adding better tech and going up in price, instead.

If this is merely an attempt by Microsoft to get some of their momentum back, that would be positive momentum heading into the next generation of console releases, I could certainly understand that, but I still struggle with the "why" when they're taking a hit on the consoles with such low sales targets.

Of course I could be wrong and perhaps Microsoft specifically has loftier goals with the Scorpio, I just think they would do better to devote these resources to the next gen system instead. Of course if the Scorpio is going to get its own software after all, then most of my points are moot.
Their end game is they a release a console every 3-5 years with this much of a power increase over the prior while maintaining backward compatibility, and some semblance of forward compatibility every couple consoles imo.

So I don't know a lot about tech and so I was wondering something. When it comes to the Scorpio and its specs is it has powerful has people thought it would be from what was said last E3? Or is it more powerful or less? Also with its specs what kind of price is most likely?

It's more powerful than previously thought. I was ridiculed for passing along my info that it was going to be substantial improvements, capable of native 4k. People in this thread said no chance. Yet here we are. Most outlets are seeing what a large improvement this is as well.

While even before I was hearing that it was going to most likely going to do Native 4k and I was hearing 6 TF even before and it is 6 TF. So I thought maybe it was the same has people thought it was going to be. But I didn't hear if other stuff besides TF went up or not.

The Scorpio is a no brainer for me. It's where I'll be playing my multi platform games once it comes out. The fact that all your Xbox one 1080p titles will be upscaled to run native 4k is huge. I actually can't wait for this monster console.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned very much, but was in the DF video was the inclusion of Dolby Atmos. It's up to the developers to implement it, but having overhead audio while in games would be incredible. Imagine playing Battlefield and hearing a plane or helicopter over your head.

Agreed but I'm waiting to see.

Its still a jaguar processor even if customized...its just OC a bit.

DX12 did absolutely nothing for pc gaming. Here they say its included on the hardware side (probably to offset that processor) but thats the part iffy to me.

Otherwise the hardware specs are good to go.

What people were saying is, if this was on the level of say a 1080ti then the price would be too expensive, otherwise they'd have to cut corners somewhere or just take a loss.

It's going to come down to first party exclusives. Sony just absolutely crushed on that front in this generation. IMO, MS needs a half a dozen or more new IP's from multiple genres or else the Scorpion is just going to be a niche purchase regardless of the powerful specs.

While I agree just because it has more powerful specs doesn't mean it'll run the games better. It depends upon how devs find programming for it is. The real test will be comparing Madden 18 on Scorpio to Madden 18 on PS4 Pro IMO.
