My gf and I both had an original xbox one. I got the S when released as my primary on a 4k tv, had both originals in the office and 4 seasons room. Then I got a 2nd S for my office with a 4k monitor and moved that original upstairs to the master bed (4 XBO, I know, but it is the best media box out there combining tv, apps, games. Plus I don't sell my old electronics, so I'd still have them anyways.) When I had both original XBO, no problems ever. When I got the first S, that one had connection issues while the original two still worked fine, so I exchanged it. They still occurred on the S only, though forwarding ports for it made it happen far less often. When I got the 2nd S, both S consoles had the issue pop up from time to time, usually every day or two.

The quick fix then was a simple go into network settings, go offline, wait 20 seconds or so, then go back online. But then last week I changed a few router settings that seemed to fix it permanently.

The issue was when they were "offline" they still had a connection to my wifi or hard wired connection. But in the network settings, NAT Type was either "Getting info" or "Not available". Not sure exactly what the issue was but it didn't seem like a hardware issue, it seemed like sort of network/ip/port issue. I tried a different router in case mine was dying (though only a year old and a pretty expensive router), but the new one had the same issues. I did change a couple minor router settings, but the one that I "think" solved it was setting a static IP outside of the DHCP range. My router DHCP assigned between 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.255, which was the default. I changed the max to be 192.168.1.50 (since I don't need more than 49 devices connected anyways) and then set a static IP for each XBO, 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.103. Since doing that, no console has had any connection issues at all. I'd say give that a try.
Thanks for the tips. The offline/online trick did work a couple of times for me. So far (knocking on wood) there's been no issues since swapping locations with my PS4. I'll go the IP route if things go back to being wonky.

Yeah it worked out pretty well.

Man the weight of this thing alone is beautiful. Haven't even scratched the surface of what's possible.

Threw the long R thumbstick on for Halo, and L for Rocket League and both have made a difference. Looking forward to messing with the paddles, which will no doubt be a total mind F to muscle memory.

The weight and longevity of controller is a definite plus. I got one on release, and still going strong. The padddles I have not even messed with, old school gamer here, so not really sure what to use them for, and worried hitting them at wrong times, haha. I already feel controller has plenty of buttons to remember. Just me?

Nice, I was hoping the same. I've gone through controllers quicker than normal lately. Bumper, thumbstick, A button; so like you said I'm hoping this baby will last me a while.

It feels leaps and bounds better than any other controller I've ever used. I immediately took the paddles off, but it would be cool it find a use for them.

Using one for jump in shooters is the best use imo, it allows you to keep aiming in the air without losing a split second moving your thumb back to the stick. Also as a left stick click when games force you to keep it clicked to sprint, which isn't very comfortable.

I use the paddles for right and left stick clicks. Never liked the stick clicks.

I'm weird and tend to go into my router when our usual wireless devices are on and lock them into that IP...It helped back when you'd need to open NAT or disable the firewall stuff. I think the systems are better than the past with regards to that though.

Haven't had my Xbox in almost 6 months and today I turned it on to a bunch of updates.

Late to the party but the newest Xbox dashboard is awesome, it's easy to use and very quick. I'm loving what they've done.

I'm just the opposite. I find everything about the xbox dashboard to be cluttered and a pain to navigate. One of the main reasons I'm letting my Xbox live subscription expire and going to the Playstation full time. I haven't played anything on the Xbox one in months, I really wish I never bought it.

Yeah they have done a great job tweaking the dashboard since launch. The work they put in on the console even after it was released is impressive. Always improving it.

I'm with you...it's why I prefer Playstation. Way too much stuff on the Xbox dashboard.

Xbox One dashboard is slow, cluttered and horrible to navigate. I don't know why Microsoft simply didn't copy Xbox 360 dashboard (or has that changed too?) from a few years ago. Easy, quick, fast and simple.

PlayStation dashboard is awesome especially with folders. Just wish I could put the TV&Video app in a folder. Oh well.

I don't find the dash slow or cluttered. Very rarely do I need to navigate anywhere since I can instantly access my last 5 games or apps, plus my favorites that are pinned.
