The launch of a new gaming console can sometimes feel bittersweet. There’s all of the excitement over new features and horsepower, but you’re often left with a farewell to a previous generation console and playing through some of your favorite games. That’s not the case with the upcoming release of the Xbox One X console. The X is the most powerful Xbox console to date, continuing to build upon the incredible features – and more importantly, game library – of the Xbox One. And – like last year’s PlayStation 4 Pro (see The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 4, and Skyrim Special Edition) – we’re pleased to announce support for the Xbox One X across a number of our games.

Just got home and fired up my X and was prompted for updates for Wolfenstein II, Ark Survival, FFXV, Mafia III, and Shadow of War. Just need that 2K18 and I’ll be set.

Squaretrade has 3 years accidental coverage for 119, Gamestop has a 2 year for 60. May go with Squaretrade

Edit: Just got off the phone with Squaretrade and got the accidental coverage 3 years for 106, I can deal with that

It is a sweet looking console. I have a black TV stand, and I kind of considered upgrading my TiVo roam to a new white TiVo Bolt to match it.

But with a black XB1X coming, I'm not going to mess with that, now. We are back in black.

I never buy warranties for electronics. That is a fool's game. No one would offer warranties on this stuff if it wasn't massively profitable to do so. They collect for more money than they pay out, and it's not even close. That's why they not only pressure employees to sell them, but often pay them bonuses to do so.

                Do the math.

Same. I understand It gives people peace of mind though. I’ve never had a console fail me in the first couple years so I figure I’m on House money already.

It has honestly been years since I even thought about the Xbox but I decided to see what they had done since I left and what the new hardware had to offer.
I should start by saying I’ve got the right setup for the Xbox One X. I have a curved Samsung TV that can do 4K and all the HDR lighting effects. I’ve been really impressed by the Playstation Pro and was curious how the Xbox One X compared. On paper the X is more powerful than the PS4 Pro and Jerry could tell you exactly why. What I can tell you, is that I had played Assassin’s Creed Origins on the Pro for about twenty hours. I booted it up on the Xbox One X just to see if I could tell a difference and I ended up restarting entirely. I spent the night catching back up to where I had been just because playing it on the X was so much better.
Assassin’s Creed Origins just screams on the X and the HDR lighting effects that were cool on the Pro are jaw dropping now. It never skips a frame even when you’re soaring around as Senu which is something the Pro struggled with. The game just looks stunning and runs like lightning. I replayed the first twenty or so hours and marveled at the same scenes I had just played on the PS4 Pro. It was like playing a different game honestly. Meanwhile the XBox One X itself is small and silent the entire time. I never even heard a fan kick on after playing it for hours.
Forza 7 was another Xbox exclusive that looks absolutely astonishing on the X. Exclusives are one thing but I have to say after looking at Assassin’s Creed the Xbox One X, this is where I will play all my multiplatform games from now on. Microsoft claims they have built the most powerful console available and after a weekend with the hardware I have to agree.

I never used to buy warranties but I took advantage of the warranty from Gamestop when I bought a PS4 for me and my son and before the 2 yrs was up I had to get them replaced and simply walked into Gamestop and I got a new one without any questions. Glad I did and will probably do the same for the X.

Squaretrade is a better deal in my opinion but the thing I like about GameStop’s product replacement plan is the fact that you can just walk into a local Gamestop and swap it out. Not too sure how it works with squaretrade.

it's a gamble, considering the xbox 360 RROD not one I'm willing to take..i insure all my electronics and i've come out ahead on them so far

one incident comes to mind was when i had an electrical incident and my tv, stereo receiver and ps3 quit working. i had insurance on all 3 via squaretrade and they repaired my tv (saved me $300), replaced my receiver as it was unrepairable (paid me $700) and replaced my ps3 (saved me $200)..

so yeah, it can be a waste of money if you have great luck but it only takes one incident to make you wish you'd have bought it..

Didn't used to buy warranties till my Xbox 360 died on me a day before the factory warranty was about to be over, lucked out on that...then bought a TV from Best Buy and with in 3 months it was acting crazy and had to use the factory warranty to change it out 3 times. From then on most things I spend 400+ on I get a warranty, it isn't the norm for things to go back so quickly but it has and can happen.

Agree 100%. Extended Warranty’s are a must when it comes to electronics and appliances in my home. Got caught once with my pants down on a plasma tv that I paid $2000 for and it lasted 13 months and luckily for me the manufacturer decided to honor it. Took a semi rough email that was finally responded to after a month or so. Lesson learned for me.

Fired up Shadow of War and I’m restarting. Game looks stunning on 4K and HDR. Wow!!
