FYI, if y'all enjoy old platformers, make sure you grab Duck Tales Remastered on Steam today or tomorrow as it will be leaving the digital world on 08 August (https://twitter.com/CapcomUSA_/statu...97527241695233).

Steam has it on sale for $3.74 today and tomorrow: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2...es_Remastered/

I highly recommend picking this up if you even "think" you'll enjoy it as it may be gone forever...

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Anyone have suggestions on the best GPU and monitor combination? ultrawide and high refresh rate is a necessity, and I want to run most if not all games at high/ultra settings.

The games would be NBA, Madden, F1, and maybe some FPS.

EDIT: I was originally looking at the RTX 2060s and 2070s but im unsure on what monitors would be great with those.

If you want ultra settings on an ultra wide monitor with a high refresh rate then a RTX 2080 would be your best bet for a graphics card. Especially when it comes to a game like F1. Racing games are very demanding.

Outdated.... But you can still run most newer games on medium with it, a few on high. Depends on the type of games you like to play.

                I still play 90% of my games in 4k w/ a 1060 6GB...1070 is more than enough.

Yeah I wouldn't say 1070 is that outdated..site there are now quite a few cards in front of it but it's still pretty far up there in today's games..

I have a 1070ti and It can run anything. It's not as outdated of a card as you might think. It just depends on what kind of performance you're looking for and what it's paired with. I run AC Odyssey, The Witcher 3, Wildlands, etc. on High. If your target is 4K then I would go with a better card, but 1080-1440p it's just fine.

So i just bought my first AIO and installed it. My temps are running higher though? When I turn on my PC its already at 120-125 degrees F. WTH. I have to have installed something wrong or something.

I did also have to buy a new case because the AIO didn't fit in my old case, I wonder if its just the set up. Haven't had much time to play with. Came home around 8PM and had everything transferred over around 1030. Messed around a bit and went to bed. I'll take a deeper dive after work tomorrow and the weekend.

It's fine bro. Majority of the time CPU and GPU temps are measured in Celius. 120F is 48C which is normal for a CPU nowadays. Also remember water cooling or AIO take longer to stabilize then air. You have nothing to worry about until your temps hit 185F or higher. Now that is too hot.

You can lower it by simply turning up the fan speed to what ever level you are comfortable to hearing. My CPU sits at about 105F on air on idle, which is 41C.

Thanks. That reassuring. Like I said I didn't have much time to let it run due to time but I'll see tonight and this weekend.

I think what he meant was there are a lot newer cards out now, and there are, but it doesn't mean that one ain't still really good.

GMSS right in a lot of regards, generally 3 to 4 years is about the max before you start seeing a frame rate reduction on newer titles. I run a 1070Ti and only ultra it's finally starting to see issues breaking 60 fps in some titles.

It really depends on the monitor you are running, 1080p the 1070 will be fine, 1440p you will be capping the card out, and lastly what titles you are playing & the demand they require. All in all the 1070ti will be fine with medium to high settings in 99% of the titles out at 1080P.
