Steam sales haven't been the best deals for years. It's always best to check isthereanydeal.com before buying something. The Steam deals push third parties to lower their already low prices.

Is Mafia 3 worth the purchase on PC? I read some bad reviews when it first came out.

All the negative reviews were surrounding the 30 fps lock and lack of graphical options on PC. Not sure if those issues have been resolved, but if they have, I assume the game is pretty solid. If its anything like the first two, it's great.

Thought AI was the big issue with Mafia? Sounded like 2 was still the best in the series.

            Yeah, so about that....

It dropped even more to $20 and I jumped on it. It'll run on my system - it just won't be able to pull 60 FPS and end up looking a lot like the console version.

The DLC doesn't seem essential to the experience so I can probably leave the season pass alone.

Decent haul from the Steam sale thanks to my wife buying me some Steam Cards for Christmas. Wound up getting Watch Dogs 2, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, Darkest Dungeon, and Prison Architect.

Only really had time to play Shadow Tactics to this point, but damn is it fun. Such a tense game, but man is it rewarding when things go to plan. Thankfully, there's a really generous auto-save system in place.

Treated myself tonight to a GTX 1080 from EVGA and a Benq 27 inch 144mhz 1440p monitor. Both shall be here Friday. Haven't upgraded the beast in a while.

You're going to love the 1080. I am running two of those cards in my rig at the moment and I couldn't be happier.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

Well both arrived this afternoon, during the break of the snow storm. The GTX 1080 is way better then I thought it would be. It rips threw games with ease. Coming from a 980 I didn't think it would be that huge of a difference, man was I wrong. The speed of the 1080 paired with 8gb of VRAM makes all the difference in the world.

Only annoying thing about the card is the fans get pretty loud under load. I can live with it though. Now on to the BenQ monitor. Solid, greatly under appreciated by the masses. The stand is heavy and solid. You can raise the stand up, flip the monitor completely vertical. Monitor don't have built in speakers, but who uses monitor speakers anyway ? It does have a headphone jack, headphone hanger arm that pops out, 2 USB 3.0 ports.

The S-Switch is a handy feature. All it is really is a stand alone display controller that is attached to the monitor via a micro usb cord. Comes in handy. Instead of reaching on the side of the monitor to mess with settings, I can simply use the S-switch, which is faster, just like using a mouse really.

I'm set for a while. The only thing that was outdated in my rig was the 980. The 5820K still going strong, my SSDs still going strong and so are my 48GB of RAM. Nothing like new tech smell.......Over the weekend I shall mess around in Adobe Premiere and put those CUDAs to the test.

At first I was going to wait for the 1080ti but when I saw 1080 for $600 and some for $560 on Amazon, I was like yeah, the time to buy is now.

As of today, Steam made a top 100 selling games of 2016 category. Then they broke it down into groups of platinum, gold, silver and bronze. They all are on sale except for 5 of them. So if you ever wanted to know what the top 100 games of 2016 was and wanted to buy them on sale, there you go.

The regular Winter Sale is still going on too.

Anyone play Farming Simulator? I'd like to get the game, but unsure if I should get FS 2015 Gold Edition or spend the extra $20 for 2017. I've read the jump was pretty significant between the two, so I'm leaning towards the new version.

                        Any thoughts are appreciated.

Heh, I already own 5 of the games on the platinum list on my Steam library. 5 more on the PS4. The only ones I do not own in any way are Total War and Witcher 3 - and I'm considering changing the latter.

My CPU fan on the EVO 212 stopped working this morning. Thank goodness I already had 2 extra case fans laying around. So I slapped both of them on the EVO 212.

I have both. I think the upgrade is worth it. Cleaned up a lot of gameplay areas, added some new mechanics and technically it's much more polished. I had random frame rate drops in 15, but 17 is pretty solid. Game just looks better too.

Kaby lake embargo lifted. Just a more efficient version of Skylake. Get the same benchmarks in games. Only upside to Kaby lake is you can get 5ghz stable clock speed.
