Could someone please explain this “Fan Curve” as I’m pretty new to PC gaming and still learning some of the cpu gaming lingo.

Fan curve is the temperature point to where you want the fans to ramp up to a certain percentage.

      For example:

      50C - 60%

      60C - 75%

      70C - 90%

By default things have their own default fan curve, it really isn't high because they be trying to keep the noise down. You can change it though to what ever you like. For your CPU and case fans, you can change the fan curve in the BIOS. For your graphic card, you can use MSI afterburner or EVGA precision software.

Where you want it at is totally up to you. The higher the fan speed, the more noise it will make. Some people don't like the noise so they leave it at factory default.

          I appreciate it.
I have 2 profiles on afterburner

          1. default with fan curve at 50 for everything but gaming

          2. overclock and set fan curve to 75 at all times when gaming

The gaming trio is an excellent gpu for cooling and oc

The Asus Strix and Trio to me are the best 2080ti variant for the gamer

It is based on value, the B9 has the same panel and pq of the c9 but at a lesser cost. To many the extra features are not going to be worth the extra 400 dollars when the pq is the same

Yeah I get that, i just don't understand how you can rate a B9 over a C9 for hooking up a PC. C9 being only a few hundred more at this point and GSYNC being a major feature.

                      2 things

Their reviews were posted before LG even announced this but also GSYNC Compatibility is coming to not only the C9 and E9 but the B9 as well

Remember this is not GSYNC it is GSYNC compatibility.

It is software-based and not hardware chip like a dedicated GSYNC module

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread

I haven't been keeping up with the GPU market as much lately. I see we're already in the 20xx generation now and we not only have ti's, but Supers as well? Are the Supers between the regular card and the ti in terms of performance?

I don't plan on upgrading in the immediate future, but my 1070ti is starting to show a tiny bit of its age now when gaming at 1440p. RDR2 definitely puts it on its knees, but it seems a lot of newer games are starting to push the 1070ti to its limits at 1440p. Fortunately for me, I don't exactly play a ton of new games, but I do want to start getting an idea of where to go when I do upgrade.

From the very brief research I did, it does look like a new gen of cards is expected as early as early 2020. If so, that works for me. I'll likely be accepting a new job offer than will have me begin working around June with a very nice pay bump. I'd probably be looking to upgrade around that time, maybe even a couple of months earlier potentially. Any suggestions from you guys on where to go?

The current GPU hierarchy off the top of my head.

RTX Titan - over $2000, not needed

2080ti - King of the hill for gamers

2080 Super - If you want that 4K goodness with RTX on but don't want to spend over 1K

2080 - Can some what do RTX at playable frames

                          2070 super - 4K only don't use RTX

                          2070 - 4K only don't use RTX

I highly doubt new GPUs come out the beginning of 2020, more like summer 2020 like it was this year. There is a chip shortage and that is causing everything to be delayed by a half of year.

I feel like I read every year that there is a chip shortage causing delays and higher prices. Are the chip shortages actually real or just another method to continue hiking the prices up on GPU's?

Appreciate the info, though. I may hold off until the summer, see what is coming, and maybe upgrade then or even wait if I'm not dying to upgrade by then.

Any of y'all using the newest version of GeForce Experience (3.20.x.x)? Any fixes? Ever since I updated to it, a few of my games cannot be optimized. I realize the optimizations aren't the best; however, I like to use them as a good starting point when installing a new game.

I remember that there was a shortage a couple years ago during the bitcoin craze. Haven't heard anything recently about it though.

My PC fried last week. Spent a few days trying to fix it. I'm pretty sure it was just the motherboard that was bad, but I decided to just modernize with a full new build. Might try to get a new mobo at some point as a secondary build down the road.
